Lady Bulldogs win Alicia Jenkins Tournament

The McDermitt High School girls basketball team picked up its eighth win in nine tries, with two victories at the Alicia Jenkins Memorial Tournament last weekend in Crane, Ore.

Kuskie named to Best of Nevada Preps first-team, girls cross country squad

Lowry High School’s Becca Kuskie was named to the first-team Las Vegas Review Journal Best of Nevada Preps girls cross country team. Runners are chosen from each of the leagues classification from 1A/2A to the 4A and were placed on the first, second or honorable mention teams. Kuskie, running in her third state meet, finished third in the 3.1-mile race with a time of 20 minutes, 19 seconds. 

Lady Bulldogs race past Raiders

The McDermitt High School girls basketball team continued its winning ways last week with a 43-30 win at Rimrock, Idaho, on Wednesday Dec. 13.

Lowry wrestlers win Mustang Invitational in Lovelock

With its squad closer to being back to full strength, the Lowry High School wrestling team won the Mustang Invitational this past weekend in Lovelock. The Buckaroos beat out more than 20 teams from northern Nevada and finished with 178.50 points. Reed was second with 144 points and Spring Creek placed third with 136 points. Fernley (99) and Battle Mountain (93.50) rounded out the top five.

The Winnemucca Event Center was a busy place this past weekend, as 25 wrestling teams competed in the annual Cody Louk Invitational. 

Buckaroos drop to 0-2 in league as offense struggles in loss to Vikings

Right now there is a lid on the basket for the Lowry High School boys basketball team and it seems not even dynamite can blow the top off of it. The Buckaroos dropped its second consecutive league game on their home floor, losing 49-29 to South Tahoe on Saturday afternoon in Winnemucca. Lowry dropped to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the Northern 3A.

Buckaroo wrestlers finish second at home invitational

With a few of its top wrestlers out of the lineup right now, the Lowry High School wrestling team is looking to keep the ship righted until they get back.  The Buckaroos made their rare appearance at home this past weekend, hosting the annual Cody Louk Invitational. The tournament included 25 teams from around northern Nevada.

Lowry girls cruise past South Tahoe

Despite nine new players this season, the Lowry High School girls basketball team is making it look easy after its first two games in the Northern 3A. The Lady Bucks improved to 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in league play after a 64-21 victory over South Tahoe on Saturday afternoon in Winnemucca. Lowry won  its two Northern 3A contests by 46 and 43 points, respectively.

Lowry JV rolls past Dayton

The Lowry High School JV boys basketball team improved to 4-2 on the season with a 53-18 win over Dayton on Tuesday night in Winnemucca.
