The McDermitt High School girls basketball team picked up its eighth win in nine tries, with two victories at the Alicia Jenkins Memorial Tournament last weekend in Crane, Ore.
Lowry High School’s Becca Kuskie was named to the first-team Las Vegas Review Journal Best of Nevada Preps girls cross country team. Runners are chosen from each of the leagues classification from 1A/2A to the 4A and were placed on the first, second or honorable mention teams. Kuskie, running in her third state meet, finished third in the 3.1-mile race with a time of 20 minutes, 19 seconds.
The McDermitt High School girls basketball team continued its winning ways last week with a 43-30 win at Rimrock, Idaho, on Wednesday Dec. 13.
With its squad closer to being back to full strength, the Lowry High School wrestling team won the Mustang Invitational this past weekend in Lovelock. The Buckaroos beat out more than 20 teams from northern Nevada and finished with 178.50 points. Reed was second with 144 points and Spring Creek placed third with 136 points. Fernley (99) and Battle Mountain (93.50) rounded out the top five.
