Before the Fernley Invitational ended early due to high winds and a power outage, a number of Lowry High School track and field athletes had outstanding days.

Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest seeks comments on proposed changes recreation fees on five ranger districts

The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is seeking public comments on fee changes at certain recreation sites across four of the Forest’s ranger districts and the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area. These fee changes will assist the Forest in closing that gap and continue to maintain sites to the level visitors have come to expect, as well as expand current opportunities.

PCHS baseball plays at Greater Nevada Field

Even though the scores didn’t all go as the Mustangs hoped, they had an epic baseball week. On Monday, April 8, they traveled to Battle Mountain to complete their sweep against the Longhorns (11-4, 17-11). The Mustangs went 3-0 against their rival school.

Buckaroos swept by Spartans

Following a bye week in the schedule, the Lowry High School baseball team began a six-game road trip this past weekend in Spring Creek. The Spartans entered the series as the Northern 3A East leader with just one loss on the season. Spring Creek remained on top of the standings, winning all three games 9-2, 4-0 and 8-4. Lowry dropped to 0-9 in league play and 5-15 overall.

Pershing County track and field team competes in Fernley meet

The Pershing County High School track and field team competed in the Fernley Invitational last Friday. Angelo Gibson placed first in the 400 meters with a personal best and 800 meters.

Battle Mountain claims series finale at Sierra Lutheran

When Mother Nature intervened a couple weeks ago, it created a busy week for the Battle Mountain High School baseball team. Battle Mountain made up a pair of games on Monday, April 8, in its home finale against Pershing County. The Mustangs collected wins in both ends of the doubleheader 11-4 and 17-11.

It has been a rough couple weeks for the McDermitt High School track and field team — due to bad luck and even worse weather.

Lady Bucks stay in playoff hunt with two wins over Spartans

With the end of the regular season quickly approaching, the Lowry High School softball team was desperately looking to get some wins to remain in playoff contention. The Lady Bucks did just that winning the final two games 11-2 and 9-6 after dropping the opener 9-7. Lowry improved to 3-6 in the Northern 3A East and 9-15 overall.

Pershing County sweeps Oasis Academy stay undefeated and atop the Northern 2A

Last week, the Pershing County softball team successfully defended their perfect season against Oasis Academy. Midweek, Pershing County traveled to Fallon and beat Oasis 10-1. On Saturday, the Bighorns came to Pershing County. The Fallon school kept the scores close but lost 8-6 and 5-4 in nine innings) to the top team in the 2A, the Mustangs.
