Battle Mountain’s Serna makes finals at Pacific Swimming Far Western Championships

Nevaeh Serna represented the Battle Mountain NNA swim team at the Pacific Swimming Far Western Championships from April 4-7, at the Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center in Pleasanton, Calif.

Nearly 1,450 swimmers from age 10-18 and 150 teams took part in the event. 

Rain put a damper on the championships on day, followed by cool weather the rest of the weekend.

Serna held her own the championships, qualifying in three events and qualifying for the finals in al three. 

To qualify, swimmers had to be among the 16 quickest.

Serna finished 14th in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2 minutes, 20.39 seconds, a 3.35-second improvement. 

The young swimmer placed 16th in the 50-yard backstroke at 31.80.

Serna turned in a 16th-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, stopping the clock at 1:06.95.
