Lowry swept by Fernley in Northern 3A East play

The Lowry High School baseball team returned to its home field this past weekend to take on Fernley in a three-game series in the Northern 3A East. The Vaqueros swept the three games, winning 13-5 on Friday and 8-6 and 15-0 in a doubleheader on Saturday.

Winnemucca Junior High eighth-grade wrestlers win Tah Neva championship, girls place second

The Winnemucca Junior High School seventh and wrestling made its way to the Tah-Neva Championships at Pershing County High School in Lovelock on Saturday, March 27. The eighth-grade team cruised to the team title with 193 points and Battle Mountain (116) and Fernley (112) were second and third, respectfully.

The Lowry High School boys team finally got is season going with a pair of tournaments early last week. The Buckaroos traveled to Dayton Valley Country Club on Monday, March 25, and Fernley on Tuesday, March 26.

WASHINGTON ― The Internal Revenue Service announced today that almost 940,000 people across the nation have unclaimed refunds for tax year 2020 but face a May 17 deadline to submit their tax returns. The IRS estimates more than $1 billion in refunds remain unclaimed because people haven’t filed their 2020 tax returns yet. The average median refund is $932 for 2020, and the state-by-state table below shows how many people are potentially eligible for these refunds in each state along with the median average refund by state.

ELKO COUNTY — On Sunday, March 17, a pilot with a helicopter capture crew contracted by the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), spotted three suspected wolves near Merritt Mountain, north of Elko, during a scheduled moose collaring project.
