With the possibility of bad weather in the Reno/Sparks area, the Lowry High School track and field team stayed home from the Reed Rotary Invitational and took its entire team to Battle Mountain on Friday.

It paid off, as the Buckaroos won 13 events, set a number of personal bests and cruised to the team championship.

Junior Kepa Hilbish led the way in the 200 meters with a time of 27.02 and was the runner-up in the 100 meters (13.33), both personal bests. 

Sophomore Kiana Head had a stellar day, winning the 400 meters in a time of 1:06.7, to go with a second-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 30-5.5.

Head set a personal best in the pole vault to place second at 7-6 and she finished fourth in the high jump, clearing 4-6.

Ashlyn Bottoms had her best mark of the year in the pole vault to win at 8 feet and was third in the 100-meter hurdles at 19:57 and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles. 

Ava Swensen (13.59) and Brooklyn Swensen (14:49) were 1-2 in the 3,200 meters. It was a personal best for Brooklyn. Ava Swensen notched a second-place finish in the 800 meters at 2:44, a best for her and Brooklyn Swensen was fifth in the event at 6:30.

Freshman Alyla Thomas knocked off Ava Swensen by a second in the 1,600 meters to win with a time of 6:01, a personal best for her. Thomas set another personal best in the 800 meters at 2:54 to finish third.

Senior Mackenzie Chiaratti won the 100-meter hurdles with a personal best of 19:43 and was eighth in the 300 hurdles.

Alia Novi placed third in the 200 meters and sixth in the 100, Violet Amato was third in the 100 meters and Adajah Milam and Vanessa Lott were sixth and seventh in the 200 meters.

Caryn Sanches tossed the discus 86-4 to place second, with Hailee Gibson fifth at 75-6. Kylee Wilkinson placed third the high jump Wilkinson and sixth in the high jump, while Vanessa Lott was third in the high jump and Georgia White and Nevaeh Gerhard were fourth and fifth in the pole vault.

On the boys side, Brent Kenison won the triple jump with a leap of 42-8 and he cleared the bar ay 6-2 to take the top spot in the high jump. 

Nomar Aguirre continued his dominance in the throwing events, winning the discus with a season-best throw of 158-8 and the shot put 53-6.

Ryder Huitt set a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles to win with a time of 17.05 and the sophomore was fourth in the 400 and seventh in the 100 meters. 

Shane Gilliand won the pole vault with a mark of 10-6, with teammates Ira Wadsworth (10) and Travanti Weatherspoon (8-6) third and sixth.

Seniors Timothy Patchen (16-9.5) and Luke Fentress (16-2.5) were third and fourth in the long jump, with Austin White setting a personal best in the high jump at 5-4 to place sixth.

Sophomore Jonathan Moser placed fourth in bot the discus and shot put, setting a personal best in the shot put at 34-0.5. 

Quade Altman placed third in the 200 meters, Rojelio Leon was sixth and Moser seventh, with Keaton Kenison finishing eighth in the 400 meters.

Cooper Hoagland finished fourth in the 300 hurdles and eighth in the 110 hurdles, with Jaron Berezay sixth in the 300 hurdles and Kolby Hoagland seventh in the 800 meters and eighth in the 1,600 meters.
