And he’s decided that was enough. Snyder resigned Sunday as coach of the Jazz, ending an eight-year run of regular-season success but with the team never getting past the second round of the playoffs in his tenure.

Shane Waldron spent his first offseason as the offensive coordinator in Seattle trying to install a new system mostly through virtual meetings and with very little on-field work. Being back in the classroom and on the field with his players is a far better situation going into Year 2 for Waldron, especially in the midst of a quarterback competition.

People tend to procrastinate. That may be the case with the Mustang fun run. When Mike Brooks last checked about ten people had registered. “They can register up to the day of the race but it’s easier if it’s earlier,” he said. “Registering early helps us plan and get all the necessary items.” The 5K takes place on Friday, June 10, at 7 p.m. It takes off from courthouse park and follows a course back to the starting point. People also have the option of participating online and completing the race at their leisure.
Matt Fuller began by thanking Dave McLean, Lance Condie, Mike Brooks and Davis Murphy for coming out every week to help the PCHS track team improve. Windy, cold and rainy weather plagued the athletes until the end of the season. But it did not deter the coaches or team. Kylee Fuller and Brayden Wagner lost the chance to compete at the state level during their sophomore year due to Covid. There was no state championship during their junior year.
It’s hard to measure a team’s improvement just based off wins and losses. So, on awards night, Jared Jensen gave some examples of the Mustang baseball team’s growth.
“Softball is 90 percent mental and 10 percent physical. It’s a game that’s set up for you to fail,” Jordan McKinney said as she stood behind the podium on awards night. “By the end of the season these girls had it figured out.” She gestured toward the 2022 Pershing County High School softball team. They stood on the auditorium stage in front of their trophies.
Klay Thompson drained the 3-pointers. Draymond Green anchored the defense and even chipped in on the offensive end for a change. Stephen Curry capped off an MVP performance.
Surfing is no longer a solitary pursuit for Dan Fischer. When he catches a wave along the shores of Rhode Island, he looks down at a surfboard covered with the names of people who have died, but who shared his love of the ocean. His father’s name is the guiding light at the top.

Good thing they woke up in time for his Sunday charge. For nearly four full days, the year’s second major had been a major snooze, the cast atop the leaderboard a list mostly made up of also-rans searching for a moment stardom.

Not only did Brayden Wagner set a new personal record in the discus throw (117-01 feet). He brought home a fourth-place medal. And he just found out he’d be able to compete at state a few days before the tournament.
