The Lowry High School girls soccer team held its annual camp last week. The Lowry soccer field was a busy place with a number of youngsters. Second-year head coach Ed Partee along with his staff and players put on the camp. The goal of the camp is to help with the fundamental soccer skills and help the players improve in those areas. The camp was also filled with fun drills and games that were designed to help the campers become better soccer players.
The Winnemucca Event Center has hosted a number of different events from rodeo to wrestling, basketball and archery. You can add a new event after this past weekend. The National Horseshoe Pitching Association made a stop in Winnemucca this past weekend.

Zane Fifield shot a round of 85 to win the Flex Fitness Junior Golf Tournament held Wednesday at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course. Nearly 40 junior golfers competed in the tournament.
Lowry hosts Elko in a scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 19, and open the regular season on Friday, Aug. 25, in Battle Mountain in a non-conference contest at 7 p.m.. The Northern 3A season starts on Friday, Sept. 1, when the Buckaroos host Spring Creek at 7 p.m.
The Good Times Drag Strip was busy again on July 21-22 with the July Jamboree. Drivers across northern Nevada competed for bragging rights in the Top Eliminator, Pro, Sportsman / Street and Electronics classes.
