LHS fall season approaching

The start of the Lowry High School 2017 fall athletic season is quickly approaching.

Century Club barbecue to be held Saturday, Aug. 26

The Winnemucca Century Club, the booster club for Lowry High School athletics, will hold its annual membership drive barbecue on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 6 p.m. at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course.

Bighorns camp deemed success

The Reno Bighorns have been a fixture in the past in Winnemucca, playing a couple G-League games at Lowry High Schoo in a packed the gym.

Open gym set for Winnemucca Junior High girls basketball

The Winnemucca Junior High School seventh and eighth-grade girls basketball teams will be starting open gyms on Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 8 a.m. — 10 a.m. That will continue through Thursday, Aug. 10.

Bell finishes fourth in steer wrestling at national finals

Paradise Valley’s Quint Bell ended his stay at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Gillette, Wyo., with a fourth-place finish in steer wrestling.

Racers take to the track at Winnemucca Regional Raceway

Winnemucca Regional Raceway was busy again this past Friday, hosting its lone date in July. Drivers in the IMCA, Pure Stock and Mini Mod divisions took to the 1/3-mile oval track. Perfect conditions greeted the drivers after the sun went down on the hot day. There are two dates left on the schedule, beginning on Friday, Aug. 18, and concluding on Friday, Sept. 15.

The long high school rodeo season comes to an end in the next week, with the 69th Annual National High School Finals Rodeo in Gillette, Wyo. 

Winnemucca junior golf season gets underway

Nearly 35 young golfers took part in the Winnemucca Ladies Golf Club scramble to kickoff the 2017 junior golf season.
