After playing four games earlier in the week in the Reno/Sparks area and being forced indoors for another two due to a snowstorm, the Lowry High School softball team was back on the field this past Saturday at North Valleys High School in Reno.
With a bye week in the Northern 3A East schedule, the Lowry High School softball team hit he road to Sparks and Reno for four games against Northern 5A schools.
The Spring-like weather returned April 1st and 2nd which made for a couple of great days of golf for the Winnemucca Ladies Golf Club.
How does a young lady in Winnemucca, one up herself without much fanfare. At the end of February, Lowry High School senior Savannah Stoker finished her career basketball career with 2,000 points, three consecutive state titles, two straight Nevada Player of the Year awards and is a three-time Northern 3A Player of the Year.
Fresh off a victory over Fernley in the 3A state girls basketball title game, the Lowry High School softball team hosted the Vaqueros in three-game series in the Northern 3A East.
The Lowry High School baseball team returned to its home field this past weekend to take on Fernley in a three-game series in the Northern 3A East. The Vaqueros swept the three games, winning 13-5 on Friday and 8-6 and 15-0 in a doubleheader on Saturday.
The Winnemucca Junior High School seventh and wrestling made its way to the Tah-Neva Championships at Pershing County High School in Lovelock on Saturday, March 27. The eighth-grade team cruised to the team title with 193 points and Battle Mountain (116) and Fernley (112) were second and third, respectfully.
The Lowry High School boys team finally got is season going with a pair of tournaments early last week. The Buckaroos traveled to Dayton Valley Country Club on Monday, March 25, and Fernley on Tuesday, March 26.
The Lowry High School swim team made its way to Carson City on Saturday, March 23, for a dual with Churchill County and Truckee.
With the possibility of bad weather in the Reno/Sparks area, the Lowry High School track and field team stayed home from the Reed Rotary Invitational and took its entire team to Battle Mountain on Friday.

The McDermitt High School track and field team was able to dodge the weather on Saturday with a trip to the Fallon Elks Invitational that featured a number of teams from Nevada.
The Lowry High School baseball made its way to Elko this past weekend to begin Northern 3A East with the rival Indians. Elko swept a doubleheader 7-6 and 12-1 on Friday and completed the series sweep on Saturday with an 8-4 victory. Lowry dropped to 0-3 in league play and 5-9 overall.
It was an up and down weekend for the Lowry High School softball team, which opened Northern 3A East play in Elko. Lowry dropped the opening game of the series 3-1 on Friday afternoon but bounced back for a 17-8 win in the nightcap. The offense went away again on Saturday morning, with an 6-2 loss. The Lady Bucks dropped to 1-2 in the Northern 3A East and 7-5 overall. It is the first time Elko has taken a series from Lowry since 2010.
It was a stellar Saturday for the Lowry High School track and field team at the Fallon Elks Invitational, as Brent Kenison won three events and Nomar Aguirre two.
