Winnemucca Health Fair

Representing Alzheimer’s Awareness and Age- and Dementia-Friendly Winnemucca for several years at the HGH Health Fair, I set up my table, load it with brochures and goodies, and meet and greet with many friends. Getting ready the night before is preferable and cuts down on the morning race to park near the door so I can easily haul in my stuff, however, for some reason laziness engulfed me the Friday before and I put off the job until Saturday. Since I get up early and the doors open just after 6am for the 7am launch, no problem. No problem, that is until I decide to create one.

Preserving My Cool

In a recent post-scramble discussion my assertiveness, or lack thereof, was pointed out in a kind, but assertive way. I already knew this about my personality, but I suppose I hadn’t embraced it.

Weeds! You gotta…Hate ‘em

Every morning I spend about an hour pulling and digging weeds. Granted, I get side-tracked at times with rearranging books in our little library or pulling off expired petunias, but I have realized that after our long, wet spring, weeds flourish. I’ve also realized that if I skip a few days or take a short trip away, the weeds have not skipped nor vacationed, but instead have taken advantage of my absence to grow left, right, and center.
