Lowry volleyball team holding open gyms, morning workouts until Thursday, Aug. 8

WINNEMUCCA - The Lowry High School volleyball team is holding open gyms every Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the main gym at the high school. Those girls that attend are asked to bring court shoes and a bottle of water.

Spike Frog volleyball camp to be held at high school

WINNEMUCCA - The Spike Frog Volleyball Skills Camp will be returning to Winnemucca on Thursday, Aug. 1, through Saturday, Aug 3, at Lowry High School.

Shaver wins Doc Verner Memorial junior golf tournament

WINNEMUCCA - Josh Shaver won the Doc Verner Memorial junior golf tournament held this past Wednesday at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course with an 8-over par 80.

WINNEMUCCA - The 2013 Lowry High School fall sports night for athletes and parents will be held on Monday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m. in the Lowry auditorium.

WINNEMUCCA - Summer conditioning is currently underway for those interested in playing for the Lowry High School football team this fall.

Rain, thunderstorms cut racing action short at Winnemucca Regional Speedway

The Winnemucca Regional Speedway had a large crowd on hand this past Friday night for another round of stock car racing. Unfortunately for the racers and fans a late-evening thunderstorm brought winds and rains that cut the night of exciting racing short. The next action on the track will be Friday, Aug. 9, and Saturday, Aug. 10, with the Ken Howard and Bruce Crowley Memorial Races, respectively. There will also be a special show by Titan, a monster truck.

RENO - The University of Nevada women's basketball team announced that California, Wake Forest and Idaho will be part of 2013 Nugget Classic on Nov. 29-30 at Lawlor Events in Reno.

Winnemucca Junior High to hold open gym for girl basketball players

WINNEMUCCA -The Winnemucca Junior High School seventh and eighth-grade girls basketball teams will be holding an open gym from Monday, Aug. 19, through Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at WJHS for those interested in trying out for the team this fall.
