RENO - A season ago the Lowry High School softball team missed out on the playoffs. Some 365 days later, the Lady Bucks found themselves playing for a state championship, with a shot of knocking off the defending champions.
WINNEMUCCA - The Lowry High School swim team closed out its season at the Northern 4A Regional Championships in Carson City May 11 - 12.
RENO - The Lowry High School track and field team closed out its season this past weekend at the NIAA State Track and Field Championships at Damonte Ranch High School in Reno.Unlike two years ago, when athletes had to deal with snow and freezing temperatures, the weather cooperated this year with temperatures in the 80's.

The Lowry High School track and field team closed out its spring season last weekend at the NIAA State Track and Field Championships at Damonte Ranch High School in Reno. Raven Black and Rachel Sigurdson had finishes of third and fourth in the high jump and pole vault, respectively. Kevin Boyle was fifth in the pole vault and Taylor Martin was fifth in discus. In addition, the Lowry boys were named the 3A academic state champions.
RENO - McDermitt High School's Ian Hinkey finished second in the shot put at last weekend's NIAA State Track and Field Championships at Damonte Ranch High School in Reno.
WINNEMUCCA - Butch Cassidy's - Losers claimed the top spot in the team championship in the Winnemucca Pool League by winning the postseason tournament title at Sparkys, the former Dubble SS Saloon. Loser's also laid claim to the regular season title.
WINNEMUCCA - The Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course played host to the Rotary Best Ball Golf Tournament over Mother's Day weekend.
WINNEMUCCA - In November 2011, the Trend Setters Volleyball Club made history by becoming the first club team from Winnemucca to become members of the Northern California Volleyball Association (NCVA).
The Winnemucca Junior High School track and field team hosted the final Tri-County League meet of the season at Lowry High School on May 15. The Lowry High School softball and track and field teams dueled it out last week on the Lowry track to see who had the quickest girls. WINNEMUCCA - If you look at the Ruby Mountain all-league softball team there is going to be quite a few Lowry High School players on it.

WINNEMUCCA - With the high school season just a week removed, it was no rest for the weary as the Greater Nevada Badgers began their summer season last weekend at the Reno Knights Tournament.
