Paedyn Kash Hinkey, enrolled in the Fort McDermitt Tribe of McDermit won the button busting contest last Saturday at the Reno Rodeo. Hinkey, a 6-year old cowboy rode the sheep named “Rocketman” the night of the finals the furthest and took first place. He won his first cowboy buckle stating mutton busting champion, along with a new cowboy hat and a new pair of Justin Books on behalf of the Reno Rodeo. “When I grow up I want to be a sheep rider,” Hinkey said.

The Kids Fishing Derby, an event sponsored by the BLM Winnemucca District, U.S. Forest Service, and Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) was held on Saturday, June 13 at the Andorno Ranch pond just north of Winnemucca. The Andorno Pond was made available for the Derby from the Wilson family.
