Incline’s Jordan Wright shot a 5-under par 67 last Sunday to take home the top spot at the Winnemucca Amateur held last weekend at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course. Wright shot a 135 for the two-day event. The tournament featured 25 players in the scratch division and 28 in the net division. Wright plays out of the Reno-Carson Golf Club.
The Winnemucca 9-10 Little League All-Stars were in Spring Creek this week for the District 3 Tournament. Winnemucca opened against Silverada on Tuesday and were defeated 17-7. In an elimination game on Wednesday morning, Winnemucca held a 5-4 lead after a Hunter Smith grand slam, but Walker River came back to score a single run in the bottom of the sixth inning to win 7-6 and knock Winnemucca out of the tournament.
The Nevada High School Finals Rodeo recently concluded in Ely and Humboldt County will be sending four of its athletes to the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyo., next month. Shaun Mentaberry and Seth Duncan earned second-place finishes in the saddle bronc and bareback, respectively. Quint Bell was third in steer wrestling and Luke Logan qualified in two events, finishing third in saddle bronc and fourth in tie-down roping.
