Before heading out on spring break, the Lowry High School swim team traveled to South Tahoe on Saturday, April 1 for a dual with the Vikings. South Tahoe won both duals, with the boys claiming a 105-84 victory, while the Lady Bucks were defeated 148-56.
While Mother Nature did her best to wipe out as many sporting events as possible, the Winnemucca 13-14-year old baseball team was able to get on the field Saturday morning after the rain and snow at the Winnemucca Sports Complex. Winnemucca took on Battle Mountain and Fernley on the day. Winnemucca rallied late in its opener to Battle Mountain, but lost 7-6. Against Fernley, Winnemucca picked up a 7-5 win to finish off the day.
Mother Nature did here best to put a damper on the weekend activities, but in between the snow, rain, sun and wind, events got took part at Winnemucca Regional Raceway and the motocross track. Winnemucca played host to round three of the Battle Born Motocross Series this past weekend. Just feet away, the first action of the year got going at the oval track.

The Winnemucca Special Olympics basketball team traveled to Reno for a basketball tournament at the Boys and Girls Club. Winnemucca sent a skills set team. These individuals competed on different skills, dribbling, passing the ball and making baskets. The scores for each event was combined for an overall score.

The Lowry High School softball team took a step up in competition this past weekend with the same result from the first two weeks of Northern 3A action. The Lady Bucks made their home debut this past weekend against rival Elko and swept the Indians in a three-game series by a 41-4 margin. Lowry beat Elko 10-0 on Friday and claimed two wins on Saturday 16-1 and 15-3 to improve to 9-0 in the Northern 3A and 11-3 overall.
The Lowry High School swimming team opened up its dual portion of the schedule last Saturday in Truckee. The Buckaroo boys went 1-2 on the day with an 119-29 win over North Tahoe. Lowry lost 146-80 to Truckee and 107-81 to Churchill County. The Lady Bucks scratched out a 67-62 victory over North Tahoe, but lost 165-49 to Truckee and 136-49 to Churchill County.
The Winnemucca Junior High School eighth-grade wrestling team claimed the top spot in the Tah-Neva Championships on Saturday, March 18. The Warrior eighth-graders claimed the team title with 184 points, while Fernley was second at 158. Battle Mountain (115) was third and Carson (101) and Yerington (69) was fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Lowry High School track and field team made its way to Fallon last Saturday for the 45th annual Fallon Elks Invitational. Out of a large field of nearly 25 teams from throughout Nevada, Kenadee Jeppsen took the top spot in the high jump, as she cleared 5 feet, 4 inches. Teammate Shelby Garrison was third in the event at 4-11. In addition, Garrison was ninth in the 200 meters with a time of 28.22.
