Badgers shine at Fallon 'Spring Sting' tourney

The Badgers 15 and under traveling baseball teams claimed the top two spots at the Fallon Spring Sting last weekend. The Badger Red team beat the Badger Blue 4-2 to win the championship. The all-tournament team included Dominick Kelley (MVP), Gratian Dawson (defensive) and Anthony Hemp (offensive). The 13 and under team made up of Winnemucca and Spring Creek players were second. The Badgers will be in Winnemucca this weekend for their Mother’s Day Tournament.

Buckaroo track and field team competes at Northern 3A Regional Trials in Fallon

The Lowry High School track and field team was in Fallon last Saturday for the Northern 3A Trials. A handful of Buckaroo athletes advanced to the regional championships this weekend at Carson High School in Carson City.

Lowry golfers finish second in regular season finale

The original plan was to end the Northern 3A boys golf season on Wednesday at Old Greenwood in Truckee. However, maintenance to the course forced the coaches to forego the tournament and use the tournament at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline last Thursday as the final tournament of the regular season.

The Lowry High School junior varsity baseball and softball teams collected two wins apiece in their final home games of the year on Friday against Truckee. The baseball team won game one 8-7 and rallied from a 7-0 deficit in the finale to come back and win 8-7 as well.

Buckaroo boys finish third in Spring Creek

After missing out on qualifying for the NIAA State Championships for the past two years, the Lowry High School boys golf team is poised to reverse those fortunes in a month. The Buckaroos finished third in Spring Creek this past Thursday, but kept themselves in a prime spot for the third and final state tournament berth.
