Survivor Day at French Ford

French Ford Middle School (FFMS) students competed on June 7 in the school-wide Survivor Day event. The all-day competition was a year in the making.  Classrooms were divided into teams by color. The color teams competed in several different events including: tug-of-war,  math scavenger hunt, jeopardy, hula hoop relay and hot shot.  Fifth graders competed in the morning and sixth graders competed in the afternoon.  

Lowry shines at Northern Nevada Weightlifting Championships

A handful of athletes from Lowry High School traveled to Reno on Friday, May 26, to compete in the Northern Nevada Weightlifting Championships at Reno High School.

Lowry High School has set its summer schedule for the various sports the school participates in.

Lowry football hits the field in spring practices

The calendar may say June, but the Lowry High School football team hit the field earlier in the week for spring practices to get ready for the 2017 fall season that starts at the beginning of August. The Buckaroos head to Fernley later in the month for a camp. Lowry opens the season on Aug. 25 in Battle Mountain and hosts Spring Creek on Sept. 1.

Humboldt County Rodeo Club shines on home turf at Nevada State High School Finals

It was a mixed bag of results for the Humboldt County Rodeo Club, who hosted the Nevada State High School Rodeo Finals this past Memorial Day weekend at the Winnemucca Events Complex.

Vicki Celio won the Winnemucca Ladies Golf Clun Spring Tournament that concluded on Tuesday, May 23, at Winnemucca Golf Course. She won in a three-way playoff to earn the title.

Lowry softball places nine players on Northern 3A all-league squad

The Lowry High School softball team was well recognized for its second-place finish in the Northern 3A this season. The Lady Bucks placed nine of their players on the three respective all-league teams. Kyllie Sappington was named the Northern 3A Player of the Year and four others joined her on the Northern 3A first team.

Two members of the Lowry High School baseball team were named to the Northern 3A all-league teams. The all-league teams are selected by the league’s nine coaches.

Nevada State High School Finals Rodeo rolls into Winnemucca

The Nevada State High School Finals Rodeo rolled into Winnemucca this past weekend with cowboys and cowgirls representing all parts of the state, looking to advance to the Silver State International Rodeo and the National High School Finals Rodeo.

The Lowry High School swim team concluded its season this past Saturday at the NIAA State Championships at the Carson Aquatic Center in Carson City.

Running Late wins 2017 Bad Boys Tournament

Running Late won the 2017 Bad Boys Tournament held May 19-21 at Spare Time Bowl in Winnemucca.

After entering last Sunday as the lowest seed in the Yerington Tournament, the Badgers 13U baseball team came back through the bracket and defeated Walker River to win the tournament championship. The Badgers are off for a couple of weeks and return to action in a couple weeks when they travel to Elko on Father's Day weekend.
