The 8,9,10 year old Winnemucca Little League All Stars played Silverada (Dayton) in Elko on Friday night. Despite a strong start, the boys lost to Silverada 16-6 in five innings.
Professionals and amateurs put their cars and their driving skills to the test at the Good Times Drag Strip on Jungo Road last Friday and Saturday. The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) Board of Control meets regularly to address the business of all school activities in the state of Nevada. The NIAA is the governing body over all Nevada high school sports. Several of the items discussed and acted upon during their most recent meeting on June 13 will have a direct impact on three area high schools (Lowry, Battle Mountain and Pershing County).
Little League baseball all-stars in Winnemucca have been chosen by the coaches of the league and are practicing now. The kids will be competing in District 3 tournaments in one of four different cities, depending upon their ages.

It was a busy week for area youths, as a basketball camp was held at the Boys & Girls Club of Winnemucca from June 11-14. The camp was broken into three divisions, third-fourth grade, fifth-sixth grade and seventh-ninth grade.

Lowry High School has announced Savannah Talbott as the new girls Golf coach. Talbott will replace former coach Todd Milton for the upcoming fall golf season.
