Warrior eighth-graders tip-off new hoop season in Fernley

The Winnemucca Junior High School eighth-grade girls basketball team traveled to Fernley last weekend for their first action of the season.  The Lady Warriors got off to a slow start in their opener against Fernley losing 20-17.

The Winnemucca Junior High School girls seventh-grade basketball team  won both of its games against Fernley and Fallon last weekend to start off their season with a bang. 

Lady Bucks split with conference rivals

The Lowry High School girls soccer team took their show on the road last weekend, visiting both Sparks and North Valleys for 3A conference action.  After failing to score in their season-opening loss to Elko at home, the Lady Buckaroos took a 2-1 lead into halftime against Sparks on Friday, Sept. 7, then tacked on another goal in the second half to dispatch the Railroaders 3-1.

Ladies Golf Club results

Linda Dufurrena and Terri Kracaw tied for the first flight low net winner title by shooting a pair of 71's in the Ladies Golf Club Pro Posse Tournament at the Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course on Tuesday.

Lowry rally against Fernley comes up short in final seconds

Badly in need of a victory, and with momentum having swung against them, the Fernley Vaqueros needed someone to step up and make a big play when Lowry reached the 2-yard line in a last-gasp effort to tie the game Friday night.

The Lowry High School JV boys soccer team was at home this past weekend. The Buckaroos lost 6-2 to Sparks on Friday and 4-1 to North Valleys on Saturday.  

Lowry drops two on home floor

The Lowry High School volleyball squad lost its home openers last weekend against Dayton and South Tahoe.  Dayton won in straight sets (25-14, 25-16, 26-24) on Friday.

Lowry volleyball has tough weekend to begin league play

The Lowry High School volleyball team traveled to Spring Creek and Elko last weekend for their first conference action of the season. The Lady Bucks suffered two, three-set losses to Spring Creek and Elko to drop to 0-2 in the Northern 3A and 3-5 overall.. Lowry played Spring Creek on Friday, Sept. 7, and lost 25-16, 25-19 and 26-24.

Ladies Golf Club results

Della Domingo was the first flight low net winner shooting a 28.5 in the Ladies Golf Club Eclectic Tournament at the Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course on Tuesday.

Lowry golfers victorious at Elko, finish second at Spring Creek

In its first league competition of the season, the Lowry High School  girls golf team came in second place in Spring Creek on Tuesday. The Lady Buckaroos shot 408 as a team, losing out to Elko (395) by 13 strokes.
