Owyhee beats McDermitt

The McDermitt High School football team took on Owyhee Saturday in its first league game of the season.  The Bulldogs scored well, but the Braves dominated them 78-31.  After losing a non-conference game last week to Pyramid Lake 52-38, the McDermitt squad was looking to get their five game league season underway.  

Buckaroo boys beat Greenwave

After losing their last four games on the road, the Lowry High School boys soccer team ended up their travels with a 6-2 win over Churchill County on Tuesday in Fallon.

Lowry girls golfers claim two victories in Lake Tahoe

After finishing second in Spring Creek in their season opener and then winning in Elko the next day, the Lowry High School girls golf team was off to a good start this fall.

Lowry beats Sparks for first league win, falls to Churchill County

Take away the first half of the opening set, and the Lady Wave volleyball team may have played their best match of the year against a formidable opponent. Lowry stunned Fallon with nine straight points to begin the match but the Lady Wave stormed back to take the set 25-22 and then battled to 25-20 and 25-17 wins Tuesday at the Elmo Dericco Gym.

Ladies Golf Club results

Lynda Walton won the first flight low gross title by shooting a 92 in the Ladies Golf Club Gross/Net Tournament at the Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course on Tuesday.

Kuskies sweep races in North Tahoe

Last Friday, the Lowry High School cross country team travelled up the Sierra Nevada Mountains to run at altitude in their first competition of the year.  “Lowry cross country had a great day today at North Tahoe,” said LHS coach Kathy Norcutt. “Nine of our 13 athletes came home with medals.” Becca Kuskie grabbed top honors in the girls 3.3-mile varsity race with a time of 25 minutes, 32.78 seconds. She was over a minute quicker than North Tahoe's Kili Lehmkuhl (26:51.12). 

Lowry JV girls fall short against Churchill County

The Lowry High School junior varsity girls soccer team was back on its home field on Tuesday afternoon against Churchill County. The Greenwave knocked off the Lady Bucks 2-1.  

Lowry squeaks out a win at home

The Lowry High School girls soccer squad improved its league record to 2-4 on Tuesday night by dispatching Churchill County (Fallon) in a 1-0 nail biter at Lowry High School.

This past Friday night was the first game that the Lowry High School football team played at home while school was in session. 

LHS frosh lose to Truckee

The Lowry High School football team hosted Truckee on Friday afternoon and suffered a 42-16 loss to the Wolverines. Lowry travels to Reno on Thursday to play North Valleys.

The Lowry High School JV girls soccer team was back home this past weekend to take on North Tahoe and Truckee. The Lady Bucks travel to Lake Tahoe this weekend.  

Lowry girls fall to North Tahoe, Truckee

The Lowry High School varsity soccer squad took on North Tahoe in a conference match at home on Friday.  The Lady Lakers showed the host team no mercy as they jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. North Tahoe scored four goals in the first half and tacked on another three in the second half while holding the Lady Bucks scoreless.

Truckee pulls away late to beat Lowry

After winning its first league game of the season against Sparks in its home opener, the Lowry High School football team has dropped three straight conference games, including Friday’s 27-10 loss against Truckee.

McDermitt comes up short in season-opener at home

The McDermitt High School football team faced off against Pyramid Lake (Nixon) in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon in McDermitt. 

Fast and furious on the strip

The Good Times Drag Strip saw action last weekend as the September Memorial races were held at the eighth-mile track on Jungo Road. Friday and Saturday racing brought in over 30 cars and numerous spectators.
