Lady Bucks card a win in Dayton

The Lowry High School girls golf team went to Dayton on Monday after a two-week break in its season.  The Lady Bucks had won three of their first four competitions when they travelled to take on their Northern 3A competitors.

Warriors crush the competition

McDermitt, Lovelock and Pyramid Lake brought their seventh and eighth-grade teams to Winnemucca Junior High School last Saturday to take on the Warriors.  The WJHS eighth-grade girls dispatched McDermitt’s Lady Bulldogs 32-9 behind Kailey Franklin’s eight points. 

Winnemucca Regional Raceway season concludes

All classes of cars were represented at the Winnemucca Regional Raceway this Friday night, including IMCA Sport Modified, IMCA Modified, Mini-Modified, Pro Stock, Hobby Stock, Dwarf Car, and Outlaw Kart.

Gail Piquet won the first flight low gross title by shooting a 94 in the Ladies Golf Club Gross/Net Tournament at the Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course on Tuesday.

Buckaroos devour Panthers 28-25 on the road

The Lowry High School varsity football squad beat the North Valleys Panthers 28-25 last Friday in Reno to pick up its second league victory. After a scoreless first quarter, North Valleys got on the board first by throwing a touchdown pass nine minutes before the half.  Just a minute later, the Panthers took a punt return 70 yards to make the score 12-0.

Late goals by Spring Creek beat Lowry

The Lowry High School girls soccer team travelled for conference action against Incline and South Tahoe last weekend.  They were unable to muster a goal against either opponent, losing 5-0 to Incline on Friday and 4-0 to South Tahoe on Saturday. 

Lady Bucks split matches with North Valleys, Truckee

The Lowry High School volleyball team won its match at North Valleys last Friday  in four sets to bring its league record to 2-7 in the 3A Northern Division and 5-10 overall.

The Lowry High School boys soccer team hosted the Incline Highlanders on Friday and handed them an 8-1 drubbing. Giovanni Sapien scored three goals and Alejandro Martinez had two in the contest. The Buckaroos continued their winning ways Friday after defeating Fallon on the road last week 6-2.

Susan Hoenck wins world championship cutting title

Susan Hoenck of Winnemucca,  captured the World Champion title in the Cutting Horse competition at the AQHA Adequan Select World Championship show in Amarillo, Texas.

Buckaroo runners compete in

The Lowry High School boys and girls cross country teams travelled to Idaho this past weekend to participate in the largest meet of the season.  “What is exciting about Bob Firman is that it is probably the biggest race these kids will ever run in," said LHS coach Kathy Norcutt. "It is bigger than our regionals or state for the sheer number of athletes that compete; close to 4,000 kids were there this weekend.”
