The Battle Mountain High School volleyball team wrapped up a six-match road trip that took up all of September with two more matches on the road last week.
It might have been than three weeks but the layoff for the Lowry High School girls soccer team seemed like years. Before last week, the last time the Lady Bucks were on the field for match was Aug. 30, in South Tahoe.
The Lowry High School boys soccer team began play in the Northern 3A East Division with a road trip to Fallon on Tuesday, Sept. 20. The Greenwave, on their home field, scored the first four goals of the match, all in the first half and held on for a 4-3 win.
The Lowry High School girls golf team was back on the course last week for a pair of tournaments in Lyon County. The Northern 3A made a stop at Dayton Valley Country Club, in Dayton, one of the toughest courses on the schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 20. Lowry finished sixth as a team with total of 526.
It may not have been the prettiest at times on Friday night at Tim Knight Field in Battle Mountain but the Battle Mountain High School football team picked up an important victory in the Northern 2A with a 21-9 win over Incline. The Longhorns improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Northern 2A and have won three games in a row.
The Lowry High School boys soccer team lost a pair of Northern 3A West crossover matches this past weekend in Winnemucca. The two defeats dropped the Buckaroos to 0-9 on the season and 0-5 in crossover play.
The Pershing County girls soccer team hosted two league games this past week. They lost to Incline 4-2 and North Tahoe 8-0 but scored two goals against Incline bringing their total to eight so far this season. The Mustangs now stand at 1-5, overall, and 1-4 in the Northern 2A.
The Battle Mountain High School volleyball team picked up its first Northern 2A victory of the year, with a four-set triumph this past Friday in West Wendover.
The Battle Mountain High School girls golf team continues to show improvement, as scores improved at its latest tournament at Ruby View Golf Course in Elko on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
The Nevada High School Rodeo Association was in Ely on Sept. 9-10 for the White Pine High School Rodeo. Humboldt County’s Emma Garijo won the barrel racing average with a combined time of 25.450 seconds. She took home the top spot in the opening performance with a time of 17.659 and was the runner-up in the second performance at 17.791. Garijo added a sixth-place finish in pole bending.
Melissa Murphy shot a low-net score of 74 to win the first flight of the Winnemucca Ladies Golf Club Pro’s Posse tournament held Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course.
After nearly a month after playing its opening match of the season at the end of August in Pyramid Lake, the McDermitt High School volleyball team was back on its home floor this past Saturday to open Eastern 1A play against Eureka.
The Battle Mountain High School girls soccer team dropped a Northern 2A match to North Tahoe on Saturday 6-0. Battle Mountain travels to Lovelock on Friday to play Pershing County and are in Ely on Friday to play White Pine.
The smoke from the Mosquito Fire in California continued to hang around the Reno and Lake Tahoe area last week, causing more high school events to be canceled.
