Lowry boys soccer team drops final two matches of the season

The Lowry High School boys soccer team concluded its season last week with a pair of losses in Northern 3A East play. The Buckaroos hosted Spring Creek on Tuesday, Oct. 25, and lost 2-0 to the Spartans. 

Battle Mountain splits with West Wendover, Incline

The Battle Mountain High School volleyball team prepped for the playoffs with its final two matches of the regular season this past week at home. Battle Mountain hosted West Wendover on Tuesday, Oct. 25, and beat the Wolverines 25-19, 23-25, 25-19 and 25-18. The Lady Longhorns celebrated senior night this past Friday in what would be a familiar foe. Battle Mountain took on Incline and lost 25-23, 25-20, 27-25.

Lady Bucks finish out season on a high note

At the start of last week, if everything went right for the Lowry High School girls soccer team, it could find itself in the postseason.  The Lady Bucks would have to find a way to beat two of the top teams in the Northern 3A East. It didn’t go as planned, but the Lady Bucks ended the season on a high note. Lowry traveled to Spring Creek on Tuesday, Oct. 25, and lost 3-0 to the Spartans. 

Lowry sweeps Spring Creek, Elko to clinch third seed in regional tournament

The Lowry High School volleyball team is headed to the postseason for the first time since 2017 when it won the Northern 3A Regional Championships and advanced to the state championships.

PCHS soccer thumps West Wendover

It was a great day to say farewell to five grads-to-be. Last Saturday, the Mustang soccer team won their senior day game.  The Mustangs hosted West Wendover and beat them 4-1.

Meet the 2022-23 PCHS spirit squad

Lowry's season ends with loss to Churchill County

What started out as a promising season for the Lowry High School football team, turned into an injury-plagued year by the end of October. With a number of players hurt and moved around to different spots, the Buckaroos finished its season on senior night this past Friday against Northern 3A East champion Churchill County. The Greenwave scored three touchdowns in the first quarter on their way to a 56-0 win. Lowry ended the year at 1-4 in the Northern 3A East and 5-4 overall. 

Pershing County volleyball team splits Northern 2A matches

The PCHS volleyball week started last Thursday with a 5:30 a.m. practice. The girls got up early so they could support the football team in Battle Mountain. On Friday, the Mustangs beat the visiting Incline Highlanders in five sets 19-25, 32-30. 25-20, 17-25, 15-13. This past Saturday, Pershing County traveled to Tahoe City, Calif., and lost to the North Tahoe Lakers in four sets 16-25, 25-21, 21-25, 23-25.  The team now stands at 15-8 overal, and 10-3 in the Northern 2A. They are third in the league.

Pershing County rallies to knock off Battle Mountain

It was just another Thursday night in the Battle Mountain and Pershing County High School football rivalry.  One last beautiful fall night and a boisterous crowd greeted the players on the field. It was a night of momentum for both squads, as Battle Mountain struck for the first 13 points of the game, only to see Pershing County rally for a 39-22 win and secure the No. 2 seed in the playoffs in the Northern 2A.

The Lowry High School boys soccer team split a pair Northern 3A East matches this past week on the road in Lyon County.

Lady Bucks pick up three home wins in busy week

The Lowry High School girls soccer team kept its postseason hopes alive with three ins at home last week.  Lowry hosted Sparks in its final crossover match with the Northern 3A West and routed the Railroaders 7-1. Alia Novi collected a hat trick on the day and Maite Avalos added two goals.

Lara wins boys race at Dave Marson Trail Run

The Lowry High School cross country team ended the regular season on a high note this past Friday at the Dave Marson Trail Run at Sierra Lutheran High School.
