The McDermitt High School volleyball team made its way to Elko this past Saturday for the Northern 1A East Regional Championships. The Lady Bulldogs entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed and took on No. 4 seeded Wells.
The Battle Mountain High School volleyball team had its season come to an end this past Friday night in Yerington at the Northern 2A Regional Championships.
JJA out of Idaho won the 2022 Sandy McLinden Memorial Tournament held Oct. 29-30 at Spare Time Bowl. The Winners Inn and Winnemucca Inn helped sponsor the tournament, as 36 teams nearly 110 bowlers participated, with 96 of them from out of town. Over $13,000 in prize money was awarded.

It was a bittersweet weekend for the Pershing County High School volleyball team. They traveled to Yerington for the for the Northern 2A Regional Championships as the third seed. On Friday they faced the sixth seed, Silver Stage Nighthawks, beating them in three sets 25-13, 25-22, 25-17. On Saturday, the Mustangs competed against Yerington, the second seed.
It was an emotional night to say the least at the Northern 3A Regional Volleyball Championships at Hug High School on Friday night. The Lowry High School volleyball took on Spring Creek, as a large group of fans plus a pep bus filled with Buckaroo students made the 165-mile trip to support the team and a senior on the squad.
Chevan Cordeiro passed for 340 yards and two touchdowns, Kairee Robinson ran for two big scores and San Jose State rallied for an emotional 35-28 victory over Nevada on Saturday night. San Jose State postponed its football game last weekend after freshman running back Camdan McWright was killed when he was hit by a school bus while riding a scooter near campus.
Michigan State has suspended four players for their role in roughing up Michigan players in a stadium tunnel after losing the game. Spartans coach Mel Tucker announced Sunday night that linebacker Tank Brown, safety Angelo Grose, defensive end Zion Young and cornerback Khary Crump were suspended immediately.
The Pershing County High School volleyball team opened its senior night game with a “silent night.” You didn’t hear a peep out of Lovelock until the Mustangs put 10 points on the board. Then the home crowd let loose. They had a lot to cheer about. “It felt so good. We need noise to pump us up,” said coach Monica Halverson.
The Battle Mountain NNA swim team was in Carson City from Oct. 21-23 for the 2022 King of the Hill Challenge. King of the Hill is a 50-freestyle challenge throughout the meet this year there were 93 girls 93 boys ages 13 - 19 from 23 teams from Nevada and California.
It was a chilly Thursday night in Lovelock as the Pershing County Mustangs hosted Coral Academy for the last game of the regular season. The Mustangs blanked Coral with a final score of 48-0.
The Battle Mountain High School football team closed out the regular season this past Thursday on the Nevada/Utah border with a 36-6 win over West Wendover.
Battle Mountain High School’s Ivy Peterson and Lilly Peterson qualified for the NIAA 2A State Cross Country Championships, with their respective finishes at the 2A Regional Championships this past Friday at Shadow Mountain Park and Reed High School in Sparks.
Lowry High School senior Ivan Lara finished 10th at the NIAA 3A Regional Cross Country Championships and has qualified for the 3A State Championships this Saturday in Boulder City.
