Byrd place fourth in her first performance on Monday, June 19, with a time of 20.852 seconds. That was good enough for her to finish 20th in the go-around.

Youngsters from the third through eighth grade attended the Lowry High School youth boys and girls basketball camp last week. The camp was taught by Lowry coaches and players and focused on drills and enthusiasm to help the players increase their basketball fundamentals and overall knowledge of the game. In addition, the goal is learn and enjoy the game within the Lowry tradition.
Instructors from Gold Medal Squared were in Battle Mountain last week to help put on a volleyball camp for high school students at the Lander County Rec Center. The campers went through a number of offensive and defensive drills to improve their abilities and performance on the floor.
Weston Reiva and Nevaeh Serna of the Battle Mountain Northern Nevada Aquatics team competed in the Bishop Invitational on June 10-11. Reiva was runner-up, high-point for the 10-year-olds and Serna was high-point for the 11-year-olds with 10 first-place wins.

Mike Brooks watched the weather on Friday, June 9, the day of the annual Mustang 5K/Walkathon. "We had a little scare with rain but it cleared up nicely. There were no thunderstorms so we proceeded." Conner Fecht turned in 31 laps in 60 minutes. Josiah Hunt finished with 29. Ryan Houston crossed the finish line first.
Members of the Battle Mountain NNA swim were back in action last weekend. Daxon Bakker, competing in the 10 and under group, had three fourth-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (1:59.96), 50-yard butterfly (53.90) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:23.67) and was sixth in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:40.75.
