Little League all stars get underway in Elko and Fernley


The Little League District 3 all-star tournament gets underway this week in Elko with three divisions of action.

The 8-10-year-old division starts on Friday with Silverada (Dayton) playing Walker River (Yerington) at 8 a.m. In the other portion of the bracket Winnemucca plays High Desert (Fernley) at 5:30 p.m.

The two winners play Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and the losers play at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

In the top half of the bracket, Elko and White Pine play at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and Hawthorne and Ruby Mountain (Spring Creek) play at 3:30 p.m. 

The two winners play at 1 p.m. on Saturday and the losers face off on Saturday at 8 a.m.

The championship game is set for Wednesday, June 21, at 8:30 a.m.

In the Little League Baseball division (10-12), Battle Mountain and Winnemucca play on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The winner of that game plays High Desert on Friday at 8 p.m.

In other quarterfinal games, Waler River and Silverada play at 4 p.m. on Friday, followed by White Pine and Hawthorne at 6 p.m. Elko and Ruby Mountain play at 8:30 a.m. on Friday.

The championship is set for Wednesday, June 21, at 11 a.m.

In the junior division, Winnemucca and White Pine play at 8 a.m. on Friday, with the winner playing Ruby Mountain on Saturday at 8 a.m.  Walker River plays High Desert at 10 a.m. on Friday, with that winner playing Elko on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

The championship is set for Tuesday, June 20, at 4 p.m.

The Senior all-star tournament will take place June 23-25 at Fernley High School. Winnemucca and High Desert lay at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 23, followed by Walker River and Dayton at 11:30 a.m.

The two losers play at 9 a.m. on June 24, and the winners play at 11:30 a.m. on June 24. The championship will be June 25 at 9 a.m.

The 8-10-year-old division and Little League state tournament will be in Winnemucca from July 19-23.

The junior and senior state tournaments will be held in Fernley from June 30-July 3.
