Feb. 12, a meeting was held in the conference room at the Humboldt County School District office. The meeting was to voice concerns of how the Criterion Reference Tests will be administered this year in classrooms around Humboldt County.
I've lived in Lovelock for a year now. The small town feeling is so pleasant. The smiling faces and friendly greetings at the stores and post office warm my heart.
I wish to thank the Ranch Hand Rodeo for choosing Dan and me for "The Ranchers of the Year" award.
Hello, my name is Jorge Martinez and I am a fifth grader at Napa Valley Language Academy in Napa, Calif.
I saw a magical event in the park in Lovelock. There were local kids performing Native American songs. A puppeteer brought his lovely little figures to life, to everyone's delight. A beautiful girl did unbelievable hula hoop feats. Two local women, Nina and Shelby did a beautiful performance of sign put to music. All local northern Nevada artists, musicians and Fire Dancers put on a most incredible show.
I hope everyone had a safe and happy Fourth. I don't know why people can't respect the wilderness. On Sunday afternoon, I drove west into Kingston Canyon. There were eight vehicles leaving.
I RELAY because I am a two-time cancer survivor. I RELAY because I have lost family members to cancer. I RELAY for all those individuals that are still fighting cancer.
For those of you who have wondered, there are now spaces for more military banners on Haskell Street. I was very saddened when some of you who wanted banners early on couldn't have yours put up because we ran out of room. I'm so sorry that happened and was totally blind-sided at the time because it was so unexpected. Some of the older black light poles are empty and can be used. In addition, there are new white poles on the west side of the sidewalk that will accommodate two banners each.
