CARSON CITY - New research released today by Connect Nevada shows that 95.36 percent of Nevada households have access to fixed broadband at a minimum of 10 Mbps download/1.5 Mbps upload. In October 2011, the data showed that 91.44 percent of the households had access across the state at these speeds.
WASHINGTON - Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack recently announced a ground-breaking commitment from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to accelerate and focus conservation efforts that will benefit ranchers and also the distinct population of greater sage-grouse population that lives along the border of Nevada and California. The bi-state population of sage-grouse is being considered for protection under the Endangered Species Act.

On May 17, friends and residents of Kingston gathered at the new gates of their cemetery. After a full year of effort, Kingston's Cemetery was brought up to a proud standard, complete with new arched gateway indicating "Kingston," new fencing, new outlined and graveled walkways, new plants, new water system, and clean and tidy grave sites.
A number of freshen at Battle Mountain High School scored in the the top 10 in science, math and reading tests given as practice tests comparable to the state proficiency tests.

The committee is planning to come before the Lander County School Board soon to discuss a possible land swap with the county and then members will come before Lander County commissioners for approval.
