CARSON CITY - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Carson City District, will begin selling Christmas tree cutting permits on Nov. 12. The permits allow cutting a pinyon pine or juniper tree on designated BLM lands primarily in the Pinenut Mountains between Carson City and Yerington, the Clan Alpine and Desatoya mountains east of Fallon, and the Excelsior Mountains southeast of Hawthorne. Maps and directions are available with permit purchase. The cost per permit is five dollars.
BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Battle Mountain resident Karen Martin, 50, was transported to Battle Mountain General Hospital with minor injuries following a Nov. 5 accident on I-80 near milemarker 262, which is halfway between Battle Mountain and Elko.
RENO - NV Energy electric customers in northern Nevada now have an opportunity to buy renewable energy for their homes and businesses with the company's new Northern NV Green Energy Rate. The NV Green Energy option allows any customer in northern Nevada to purchase 50 percent or 100 percent of their electricity from Nevada renewable resources, but is limited to a certain number of customers based on the amount of renewable energy available.
CARSON CITY - USDA Rural Development Nevada has announced funding to support a "Buy Local Rural Northern Nevada' website that will give consumers a way to seek out and support local businesses and jobs.
