BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Rich Adams was selected as the new Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Tuscarora field manager in Elko and he began work Aug. 13. Adams comes to Nevada from the BLM in Malta, Mont., where he was the field manager for three years.

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - A semi-truck ended up on its side after hitting a tire on I-80 and then striking the rear of a pickup truck parked along the highway, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The members of the Battle Mountain Burners held their third annual car show in Elquist Park on Aug. 25. The weather was perfect for the show, with the sun shining down on some beautiful automobiles in the park that day.
The Battle Mountain Knights of Columbus 2380 is pleased to announce two scholarship recipients for 2012-13 school year. Mariana Gonzalez (above), of Battle Mountain, and Aaron Chisum, of Kirksville, Mo., each received a $500 scholarship. Gonzalez will be starting her first year at Great Basin College and going into substance abuse counseling. Chisum will be starting his senior year at Truman State University in Kirksville and is studying psychology.

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - A local teen is hoping the community will pull together to help her raise $10,000 by Nov. 22 to help the CICFO (Cambodian and International Children Friends Organization) orphanage in Cambodia.
