BLM to release Final EIS for Newmont's Phoenix copper leach project

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Battle Mountain District, Mount Lewis Field Office has issued the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Phoenix Copper Leach Project as proposed by Newmont Mining Corporation in an Amendment to the Plan of Operations for a new copper processing plant and appurtenant facilities.

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - An Austin man was arrested May 16 for assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly brandishing a firearm and pointing it at another patron of the Golden Club in Austin.

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - On Tuesday evening, May 15, at 6 p.m. the Battle Mountain Civic Center had a line of guests that went out the front door waiting to get in and purchase their bingo tickets in support of 19-year-old local teen Houston Lucas, who is fighting large cell lymphoma. This is a type of cancer affecting the lymphatic system which is part of the immune system that works to fight against disease and infections.
