Foghorn Stringband are part of the Northwest old time music revival, and are comparable to other old time revival groups like Outlaw Social, the Tallboys Stringband, and Uncle Earl.

WINNEMUCCA - This year, Lowry High School is hosting the 2012 Northern Regional Conference for the Nevada Association of Student Councils. The conference is usually hosted by the school of the Northern Region Representative. This year's representative is Maddie Mitch. Lowry will host the leadership classes of the 14 schools in the Northern Region. We have approximately 350 students and advisors attending this year's conference.

WINNEMUCCA - Sandoval Ezequiel Jacobo, who pleaded not guilty to burglary, battery with intent to commit a crime, battery upon an officer causing substantial bodily harm, attempted robbery, and indecent exposure in January, changed his plea Monday after negotiations with the district attorney's office.
WINNEMUCCA - NV Energy electric customers in Midas and several ranches in the surrounding area will be affected by a Thursday, Nov. 8, power outage needed to accommodate the installation of a new transformer at an electrical substation located a few miles southwest of Midas. The outage will begin at 7:30 a.m. and is expected last for about six to eight hours. Newmont's Midas Mine will also be affected by the construction-related outage.
WINNEMUCCA - Ponciano Flores-Vidriales, a 75-year-old man charged with attempted lewdness with a child under the age of 14, was sentenced Monday to prison for 24 to 60 months with credit for 466 days served.
In October, we observed Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It was a time to remember those who have lost their life to abuse, a time to reach out to those who are currently living in abusive situations, and a time to educate the public on the signs and symptoms of abuse.
MCDERMITT - McDermitt GEARUP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) had its second monthly GEARUP parent workshop. These workshops involve parents and GEARUP students in a series of seven monthly units aimed at enhancing parent and student knowledge of what it takes to be successful in life. The workshops also promote a college-going culture. These workshops are organized by Kelly Pinkston, McDermitt guidance counselor/GEARUP adviser.
ELKO - Nevada historian Doris Dwyer will present two programs at the California Trail Interpretive Center on Saturday, Nov. 17, and Sunday, Nov. 18. Both programs begin at 4 p.m. The free programs are sponsored by the Nevada Humanities on the Road and are suitable for all ages.

WINNEMUCCA - Voters propelled Dr. Soon Kim back to her seat on Humboldt General Hospital's board of trustees, and gave appointee Ed Hopfer his first full term on the board.Dr. Kim won the race for Seat C on the board with 2,862 votes, or 53.05 percent, while challenger Bill Hammargren trailed with 2,533 votes, or 46.95 percent.Hopfer carried the race for Seat D with 3,031 votes, or 58.2 percent, compared to 2,177 votes, or 41.8 percent for challenger Jenny Setzer.
