WINNEMUCCA - Project Proposals are now being accepted by the Humboldt (Nevada) Resource Advisory Committee (RAC). Successful project proposals must improve or benefit National Forest System lands within Humboldt County and the economies of rural communities within the county.

Volunteers needed to advocate for residents in long-term care facilities

Carson City - The State of Nevada's Aging and Disability Services Division has added a volunteer component to its Long Term Care Ombudsman Program and is looking for people interested to participate in Elko, Battle Mountain, and Winnemucca. Volunteers will serve as advocates for residents over the age of 60 living in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities.

NDOT reschedules Airport Road closure

Construction work planned from Aug. 20-23

WINNEMUCCA - Airport Road (State Route 796) is scheduled to be closed at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing southwest of Winnemucca Aug.20 to Aug. 23 to improve the crossing's road surface.

Debt Management Commission meets Tuesday, August 21, 2012

WINNEMUCCA - The Humboldt County Debt Management Commission will hold their next meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 8:30 a.m. in room 201 of the courthouse. The commission will discuss indebtedness reports and capital improvement plans, and establish priorities as required by Nevada Revised Statutes. Public comment will follow.

Gas Line Break

MICHAEL MICHAELSEN • Special to the Humboldt SunCity emergency crews and Southwest Gas officials were called to a gas line break Wednesday in the vicinity of First Street and behind the Scott Shady Court Motel in Winnemucca. It was reported that the gas line was accidently cut. There were no injuries reported and the leak was fixed.
