Pastor ordained in Imlay -

ALICIA CRAIG • The Lovelock Review-MinerApproximately 80 people attended the ordination of Imlay Baptist Church Deacon Jerry Greene (left). During the ordination Greene encouraged those present to read their bible. The ordination sermon was presented by Grass Valley Baptist Pastor John Thomas (right). He challenged Greene to stay faithful to the calling of God and Jesus in his life and to learn from the mistakes the future holds. "God will touch the hearts of the people he wants to touch, even with the worst sermon you've ever preached," Thomas told Greene. Thomas also challenged the congregation to pray for and encourage their new pastor. The service was followed by a pot luck dinner and time of fellowship.

WINNEMUCCA - Christopher Betz started as a store clerk at the old Raley's location on Bridge Street straight out of high school on May 16, 1976, and will retire this Saturday, over 37 years later, as store director.

Carmen Kofoed of Winnemucca Publishing welcomed a generous donation of $500 from Rhonda Zuraff, with Newmont Mining Corp., for the upcoming Just Desserts fundraiser. Just Desserts, set for Saturday, Sept. 14, will benefit the Humboldt County Library's Bookmobile. This afternoon and evening of fun will include scrumptious desserts, most donated by local businesses and residents, plus a host of game prizes, raffle prizes and silent auction items donated by local businesses and residents. Advance tickets are on sale at the library, at the Humboldt Sun office and the Chamber of Commerce.
