Fire restrictions lifted in northeastern Nevada

ELKO - On Sept. 6, fire restrictions were lifted on lands administered by Jarbidge, Mountain City, and Ruby Mountains Ranger Districts of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest; all BLM public lands in northeastern Nevada; Nevada Division of Forestry Protection Districts in northeastern Nevada; U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and Bureau of Indian Affairs administered lands.

Wildfire coordination centers consolidating

Locating in new facility will save about $305,000 a year, officials say

RENO - The Eastern Great Basin and Western Great Basin Coordination Centers will merge and be located in a new facility in Salt Lake City. The consolidation will save money and improve response time in getting resources to wildfires and other incidents.

McDermitt Library wraps up fun-filled Summer Reading Program

McDermitt Library held its 2013 Summer Reading Program with 42 children participating. Several crafts were enjoyed by the children. A family picnic and movie event were held and attended by many area residents. A grand finale was held and prizes were given out to the summer's top readers. All children who completed the program were able to receive backpacks through generous donations.

IMLAY - The Imlay reunion is an annual event that brings former Imlay residents together with current residents for an afternoon of reminiscing about days gone past. The get together is held during the Labor Day weekend each year.
