TONY ERQUIAGA • The Humboldt SunSteve Lang caught an 18-pound 15-ounce channel cat at an undisclosed local fishing spot on Tuesday. The fish was 34 inches long. Lang said his plans for the fish involved filleting and frying it.
RENO - Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius recently announced new funds to help more uninsured Americans enroll in affordable health insurance coverage made available by the Affordable Care Act. In Nevada an estimated $443,674 is available to support two health centers' enrollment efforts.
WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Farm Service Agency (FSA) Administrator Juan M. Garcia announced May 8 that farm payments, which had been temporarily suspended due to sequestration, are scheduled to resume. This includes payments for the 2011 Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payments Program (SURE), the Noninsured Crop Assistance Program (NAP) and the Milk Income Loss Contract Program (MILC).
