On Nov. 3, 2020, Joshua MacDonald, 39, died outside a Lovelock casino from a gunshot wound to his chest. The next day officers arrested Jose Javier Figueroa, 21, on charges of open murder and illegally concealing a firearm. On Dec. 6, 2021, Judge Jim Shirley sentenced Figueroa four to ten years in prison for voluntary manslaughter. Figueroa, now 22, must also serve 13 to 36 months for the concealed weapons charge. The sentences will run consecutively. He has 397 days credit for time served and must pay $178 in court costs.
