A joint investigation between game wardens with the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) and investigators with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has resulted in the conviction of a 22-year-old Utah man. Brayden Norton, of Washington, Utah was initially arrested in May of 2019 after an investigation determined he illegally shot a mule deer near Caliente, Nevada in November of 2016. Norton removed the antlers and left the rest of the deer at the spot where he shot it.

Oscar David Galarza, age 20, was recently ordered to serve 12 months of probation and pay $40,000 in restitution for destroying property. In the plea, Galarza admitted to injuring a brick building of another person willfully or maliciously in Humboldt County on Oct. 19, 2018, when he was just 18 years old.

Marylou Bickett was ordered to serve six months in jail after she failed to provide proof she was in California as a term of court-supervised probation on a gross misdemeanor charge. Bickett, age 37, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess a controlled substance in July and in September was ordered to pay a fine as requested by her attorney, along with court-supervised probation and condition she provides proof that she is in California a week following her sentencing hearing. The charge originated from Bicket conspiring to possess methamphetamine, a controlled substance, in early February 2020 in Winnemucca. Bickett is from California and told the court that she just wants to go back home to her kids. Bickett appeared in court in September and said that she had been in Winnemucca since her July arraignment hearing due to a lack of funds to be able to return for her sentencing hearing.

Jace Martin Hinds, age 31, was recently sent to serve a 19-60 month prison sentence after pleading no contest to one category C felony count of battery with substantial bodily harm. The potential penalties for the category C felony include up to five years in prison, a maximum $10,000 fine, eligibility for probation and possible restitution owed to any applicable victim(s).
