McDermitt woman arrested for murder

On March 18, 2021 the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious death on Lambert Drive. The following investigation revealed the victim, who was the homeowner, had been killed as a result of a gunshot wound to his head.  The investigation that ensued identified Chandra Catches, a 25 year old McDermitt resident as the suspect in the homicide. Catches was located and arrested that day on charges of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm, of which both charges stemmed from this investigation and the theft of the victim’s vehicle from his residence.

Man ordered to time served on robbery charges

Scott Wheeler was recently ordered to serve two concurrent jail sentences on robbery charges dating back to 2010. Wheeler signed a plea agreement with the DA’s office in which both parties agreed to recommend the court order jail sentences for two counts of gross misdemeanor conspiracy to commit robbery with a deadly weapon, with the jail sentences also served concurrently with the prison time Wheeler had just recently finished serving in California on other charges.

Man given diversion on felony theft

Robert Stanley Davis, age 35, was recently given the opportunity to complete probation, drug court and pay restitution to later be able to withdraw his guilty plea for a category C felony theft charge. 

Man ordered to prison, jail on burglary, theft

Armando Acevedo, age 28, was recently ordered to serve 36–90 months in prison and two jail sentences after pleading guilty to felony and gross misdemeanor charges from three separate incidents involving drugs and theft.
