Noskov receives max sentence

Peter Noskov, age 65, was charged with two counts of attempted lewdness with a child under 14 years of age. At the sentencing hearing on July 13, 2021 Sixth Judicial Court Judge the Honorable Mike Montero ruled for Noskov to carry out the maximum sentencing on these charges, which could mean up to 20 years in prison. 

Man arrested following shooting and chase

Mark Tucker Sharp, age 35, was arrested last week following an allegation that he shot from a moving vehicle toward two individuals in one incident on Monroe Street and then fled from officers when they attempted to initiate a traffic stop on McNinch Road outside Winnemucca.  He was arrested without injury in the parking lot of Winners Casino in Winnemucca.

Probation revoked based on positive drug tests

Sixth Judicial Court Judge the Honorable Mike Montero recently sentenced Veronica Alcarez, age 42, to carry out the judgement of conviction given to her on Dec. 20, 2020. This original conviction was foregone when Alcarez was released on probation.  Terms of Alcarez’s probation included abstaining from all controlled substances, which would be monitored through regularly scheduled drug tests. According to Officer Hill, representative of the Humboldt County Department of Parole and Probation, since her release Alcarez has continually tested positive for controlled substances.

Esquivel sentenced for felony child abuse

Teodomiro (Teo) Esquivel was sentenced for a Category B felony Child Abuse Neglect or Endangerment on July 13, 2021. This case involved purchasing alcohol for minors and sexual assault towards a minor. Esquivel was sentenced to a minimum sentence of 96 months and a maximum sentence of 240 months with credit for time served in the amount of 16 days.

Concealing weapon results in fine

Gustavo Carillo, a 56 year old man from Reno, pled guilty to a gross misdemeanor conspiracy to carry a concealed weapon.  Carillo was on his way to Oklahoma when Humbolt County police stopped him on a traffic violation for speeding. Upon stopping him, it was discovered that Carillo had an old traffic warrant out of Sparks. Police performed a pat down search after arresting Carrillo and found a 22 revolver in his pocket, a discovery that led to the charge of conspiracy to carry a concealed weapon.

Jury rules Alcarez guilty of spitting

“We are here because the defendant, Jerado Alcarez, spit on Winnemucca Police Officer, Heather Cahill, while he was in lawful custody and she was discharging her official duty,” Wendy Maddox, Deputy District Attorney, addressed to the courtroom on the afternoon of June 9. The case at hand was the State of Nevada vs. Jerado Alcarez in which the defendant, Mr. Alcarez, was accused of spitting on a police officer while under lawful custody.
