Local high school teams head out for scrimmages

Temperatures are still over 100 degrees and the new school year does not start for more than a week but high school teams are on the field or the court for the fall season.

Leopards, Lakers, Bulldogs, Roadrunners and Miners capture NIAA’s 2023-24 Award of Excellence titles

Wells (1A), North Tahoe (2A), Virgin Valley (3A), Southeast Career Technical Academy (4A) and Coronado (5A) tallied the most points in their respective classifications to take home the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association’s annual Award of Excellence in Academics, Athletics and Citizenship championships for the 2023-24 academic / athletic year.

Jackson selected as new NIAA Executive Director

LAS VEGAS – Timothy Jackson, Director of Athletics for the Clark County School District, has been selected as Executive Director of the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association. Jackson was selected by the NIAA’s Board of Control at the board’s quarterly meeting on Tuesday, March 19.

Domagala, Clausen to be inducted into NIAA Hall of Fame

Mitch Domagala, who coached at Battle Mountain and Tonopah high schools and Lowry High School's Steve Clausen are part of the NIAA Hall of Fame Class of 2024. The group features two athletic administrators/directors, five athletes, six coaches and one official.

Lowry girls begin title defense this weekend at Silverado Shootout in Las Vegas

The Lowry High School girls basketball team will begin its defense of back-to-back state championships with a trip to Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday for the Silverado Shootout.
