Ricky James Seales

Ricky James Seales passed away on May 21, 2023, at his home in Winnemucca, Nevada. He was born on July 10, 1970, to David Cox and Lucille Prettyman. Ricky was born and raised in Joplin, Missouri until he was 17 years old. He then moved to Colorado, where he lived for 2 years. At the age of 19, Ricky moved to Nevada, where he would reside until his death. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for over 20 years. He married Darcie in 1990 and divorced in 2000. He then married Amber Allison in 2005 and divorced in 2015. Rick had two children, Dustin and Shayna Seales. Rick loved hunting, fishing and just being in the mountains. Sheri Anne Coston

Sheri Anne Coston (or as she was more affectionately known Mumsy, Gamma, and Grandmama) passed away on May 19, 2023. She was born September 3, 1956 at Saint Mary’s in Reno NV, and raised in Carson City NV. She met her loving husband Clifford Coston in Carson City NV in 1977 and they married later that year. They raised their two daughters Emily and Arlene in Carson City before relocating to Winnemucca NV in 2000. She spent most of her time doting on her grandchildren whom she loved and adored with her whole being. She loved spending time with her family, holidays and special events were her favorite. She loved making any celebration a big deal. Making people feel special was very important to her and she did it well. She would do anything for anyone no questions asked, when she loved you, she loved you with her whole self. …

Justin Albert McArthur

1978-2023 Justin Albert McArthur passed away on May 10, 2023 after a brief fight against cancer. He was the son of Lynn & Brenda McArthur and was born on July 27, 1978 in Salt Lake Cit, Utah. He spent his childhood years in Manti, Utah and moved to Sandy, Utah as a teen. After graduating high school, getting his CDL, he moved to Winnemucca, Nev. In 1999. There, he worked in the gold mines as an equipment operator for the past 23 years. He met the love of his life Crystal Jordan, in 2005, and they were married on March 4, 2011. During their time together he gained two bonus sons, Matthew and Nathan Cahill, and had two more children. Jace was born on March 16, 2007 and Jayla was born October 24, 2008. Daniel Martin DeBord

On Sunday, May 7, 2023, Daniel Martin DeBord went home to be with the Lord. He was born May 10, 1962 to Geneva Marie Perius and Paul Stephen DeBord in Fort Ord, California. Dan moved to Winnemucca to start his law enforcement career in August 1987 with Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. In June of 1989 he transferred to the Winnemucca Police Department. He then met his loving wife Karol at church service and got married on May 6, 1995. They spent 26 amazing years together. In February 2011 he transferred back over to the Humboldt County Sheriffs Office where he finished out his law enforcement career in April of 2016. He always had been a fire arm enthusiast. Justin Michael Wilcox

Born on August 22nd 1982 and passed away on November 27th 2022. Justin was born to James Michael Wilcox and Jaqueline Moen Wilcox in Hyattsville, Maryland. Justin grew up in Las Vegas NV with his 3 brothers and mother, where he attended JE Manch and Lincoln Elementary schools. Justin moved north to Battle Mountain NV in 1995 with his father and 3 brothers. Justin attended Battle Mountain Middle school and BMHS, where he graduated from in 2002. Justin Excelled in sports such as football, wrestling and track (shot put and discus). He received Varsity letters in football and track along with numerous medals and ribbons. Sandra Purkins Buckingham Jones

March 31, 1937 – May 8, 2023 Sandra Purkins Buckingham Jones passed away on May 8, 2023, in Reno, NV, at the age of 86 years old. She was born on March 31, 1937, in Prescott, AZ, the second child and only daughter of Carl and Rexie Purkins. Carl was a telegrapher for the Santa Fe Railroad at the time so, consequently, Sandra’s first home was a railroad boxcar at Double Track Junction outside of Holbrook, AZ, where she joined her brother, Rex. She loved to reminisce about many special memories from her childhood. In July of 1941, Carl married Lettie Richards of Joseph City, AZ, and in 1947, the family moved to the White Mountains where they lived in a tent, waiting for the train depot to be vacated in McNary, AZ, which was on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. Megan Marie Melver

Megan Marie Melver was born on April 22, 1980, in Baker, Oregon. She passed away on May 9, 2023, at the age of 43, at her residence in Clemmons, NC, after a four-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Megan spent many of her formative years growing up in Battle Mountain, NV, where she was actively engaged in whatever sport was in season, including soccer, volleyball, basketball, and softball. She was a three-sport athlete at Battle Mountain High School her first three years, garnering numerous all-league and all-state honors. Megan transferred to Lowry High School in Winnemucca, NV for her senior year to increase her visibility as a volleyball player. Megan led Lowry to their first and only 4A league championship in her only season as the team’s setter and captain. Evan Carrillo Mendoza

Evan Carrillo Mendoza was born on September 10, 1992 to his mother Bertha and father Cornelio. Evan has two sisters, Daisy and Vanesa Carrillo. He was raised only knowing the love of family. Evan tragically passed on May 14, 2023 at 6:29am. Evan was fighting pneumonia and unfortunately lost. Evan was described as a sweet soul. Always made everyone smile, a listening ear to those in need. You could tell him everything and anything, he would never judge. Evan graduated Albert M Lowry High School in 2011, from here on he began his journey to learn new things and excel in anything he put his mind to. We will miss you and love you so much.

Michael Ward

As most of you know, my father passed away April 29th 2023. He proudly served in the US Military for 10+ years and was a Desert Storm veteran. We all knew what an avid Raiders fan he was, loved to golf and carried his little dog Zoe everywhere he went. His love for this family was undeniable . We all loved him for his gentle heart and great cooking. He was amazing father and husband and will be sorely missed. Memorial Service will take place on May 19th 2023 @ 9:00am at Fernely Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Flowers and such can be delivered there and/or 4800 Reno Highway Fallon NV 89406. Mary Drakos Cowley

Mary Drakos Cowley passed away at her home in Mtn. Grove, Missouri on May 7, 2023. Mary was born to Louis and Katherine Drakos on Dec. 27, 1929 in Farmington, Utah. She was the sixth child in a family of eight children. Mary married Mark D. Cowley in Salt Lake City, a union that lasted 63 years. The couple started their life together ranching in Wyoming and Utah. After many years on the ranch in Boulder, Wyoming, they returned to Utah for a short time before moving to Nevada to work for Ellison Ranching Company. Spanish Ranch in Elko County was their first stop before moving to Squaw Valley Ranch where Mark was the manager. Mary often was the head cook at the ranches preparing meals for hundreds of ranch hands. While raising their children and helping run the ranch, she found time to enjoy many card games with the …

Richard Hewes Robie

Richard “Dick” Hewes Robie, passed away quietly April 30th, 2023 in his Winnemucca home. Dick, as most everyone knew him, was born in Los Angeles County California, September 28, 1935. Dick started working at a young age, mowing lawns, and doing yard work, establishing a solid work ethic for the remainder of his life. He worked hard and believed in contributing to the success of his chosen business, his country, and his community. He was a patriot and loved what this country stands for, and respected those who fought to provide the freedom for which we are so blessed. He joined the US Navy Reserves and served for 4 years. Beloved mother, beloved daughter, beloved aunt, beloved friend. Odds are that if you are reading this, you knew Stephanie. She was a loquacious firecracker who never met a stranger. Stephanie never met a person she wouldn’t call a friend. And for better or for worse she never told a short story or heard of a quick conversation. Stephanie, born April 14, 1963, and raised in Winnemucca, Nevada. Daughter of Charley and Frances Amos. She was a star athlete at Lowry High School during her formative years. While growing up in Winnemucca, she also met the love of her life and future husband, Pat Schroeder. From the moment they met, Stephanie had Pat wrapped around her finger. Until her last day, Pat’s adoration and love for her never wavered. Together, Pat and Stephanie left Winnemucca to start their life together in Reno, Nevada. Coralee Nakamura

Coralee Nakamura, 86, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023 at her son’s home in Kamas, Utah. Coralee was born in Blackfoot, Idaho on December 24, 1936, the daughter of Clair Edwin and Margaret Merchant Kracaw. She attended schools in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School. Other than Blackfoot, she has lived in Winnemucca NV and Idaho Falls. On April 5, 1960, Coralee married Tack Nakamura in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tack passed away in 2009. Coralee was a Christian and enjoyed bible studies. She was a homemaker that enjoyed baking and coffee with friends. She loved spending time with her family. Gary Loren Mork

Gary Loren Mork was born in Williston, North Dakota on October 23, 1944, to Luvern VanWagner Mork and Ole Anton Mork, and was raised in a Godly household. Gary joined the Army and served his beloved country in Vietnam in the 1960’s. Gary worked as a heavy equipment operator creating roads and later in gold mining working at the Lone Tree Mine where he retired. Gary was a member of the Valmy Volunteer Fire Department where he served as the Assistant Fire Chief for over 20 years. He was an active member of the Battle Mountain VFW, serving as the Chaplin. Gary was president of His Hand Extended Ministries, in support of Missionaries who serve on the border area of Arizona and Mexico. He helped build churches and supplied beans and rice to the hungry.
