Julie Hughes

Julie Hughes passed away peacefully in Fallon, NV. She was born in Lovelock, NV to Martin and Eunice (Brown) Rodriquez and was the second oldest of five siblings. Growing up she attended Sherman Indian School in Riverside, CA. She had four children and was married to Grady Hughes for more than a decade in her earlier life. She worked at Eagle Pitcher Minerals for many years as a Leadman until she was diagnosed with silicosis. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to travel, watching her favorite shows on bigfoot and ghost adventures. She is survived by her siblings: Loretta Burden, Tony Rodriquez and Manual (Lila) Rodriquez. Children: Jackie (Edwin) Conway, Sasha Treadaway, LaCarrie (Ryan) Alvarez, and Kenneth Hughes. Kimberlee Kay Williams

After a valiant two-year battle with ovarian cancer, Kimberlee Kay Williams passed peacefully on July 24, 2023, in Cheney, Washington with family by her side. Kimberlee was born in Reno, Nevada on November 9, 1963, to Thomas and Charlese (Rupley) Davidson. She spent her childhood in Winnemucca, Nevada, and graduated from Albert Lowry High School in 1982. Blessed with height and athleticism, she was a member of the Lady Buckaroos’ volleyball and basketball teams. She also played softball and participated in bowling. Kim married the love of her life, Steven Williams in 1994. They made their home in Cheney where she was a friend to everyone. She was employed by the Cheney School District, where she worked as a Special Education Para-Educator. A loyal Eastern Washington University fan, she enjoyed attending the Eagles’ basketball and football games. Kim also supported the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners. You will never find …

Iris Carmalene Dyer

Iris Carmalene Dyer, 84, of Winnemucca, Nevada, died August 9, 2023. Known to family and friends as “Carm”, she is survived by 2 sons Kevin Neal and Thomas Scott, 5 grandchildren: Simona, Nathan, Brendyn, Kyler and Kya, and 3 great grandchildren: Mikayla, Sophia and Vincent. She is preceded in death by 1 son, Jeffrey Mark. Carm was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Ted Garcia

Ted Garcia passed away on August 5, 2023, at the age of 68. He was born on March 7, 1955, in Laramie, Wyoming to Alfred and Marcella Garcia. He was born and raised in Wyoming and moved to Nevada in 1989. He worked in the mining industry since he was 18 years old. He did coal mining in Wyoming and then gold mining in Nevada. He retired from the mining industry in 2018. He loved nature, photography and painting in his youth. He enjoyed shooting pool and listening to music. He especially loved his trips to Alaska. He had an interest in talking and watching football and he loved spending time with his grandkids. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Garcia. Beverly Joyce Mendiola

Beverly Joyce Mendiola passed away and ascended to her place in heaven on Thursday, August 3, 2023. Beverly was born on January 23, 1933 in Reno, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Louis Harold Mendiola, her father Samuel “Waltzy” Elliott and mother Gertrude Harnem Elliott as well as her sister Bonnie Elliott Crawford as well her sister and brother in-law Marie Mendiola Laca and Vernon Laca. Beverly is survived by her son Vincent Louis Mendiola (Joyce Allen Mendiola), David Allen Mendiola (Kandice Jacquelyn Koop-Mendiola) and Karen Mendiola Streett (Rick Street) as well as grandchildren Chelsea Mendiola Cabatbat (Taua Cabatbat), Louis Shane Mendiola; Lindsay Joy Mendiola, Micah Angel Mendiola (Jordan Tipton Vetter) and Meshell Faith Mendiola; Stevie Noyes Broncheau (James Broncheau), as well as ten great grandchildren; Txendoa Cabatbat, Kea Cabatbat; Rogan and Hollis Vetter Mendiola; Jayna Vance, Talise Broncheau; and Stockton, Logan, Max and Gavin Streett. …

Terrie Marsh

Terrie Marie (Taylor) Marsh, 64 of Winnemucca, Nevada, passed away with loved ones alongside and after a courageous battle with cancer on June 10, 2023 in Sparks, Nevada. Terrie was born April 14, 1959, in Chico, California, the daughter of Bob Taylor and Barbara Taylor. She lived in California, Nevada, North Carolina and settled back in Nevada where Winnemucca was her home for nearly 20 years. She graduated from Reed High School in Sparks, Nevada. Terrie had two earlier marriages before her marriage to Michael Allan Marsh on October 11, 2003, that same year they moved to Winnemucca. Terrie loved her numerous pets throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed riding horses, playing golf, camping, fishing, traveling, church, friends, family and helping others. Terrie is preceded in death by her parents. Rafael Hernandez Venzor

Rafael Hernandez Venzor passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2023, at his home in Paradise Valley, Nevada. He was born on October 24, 1955, in La Manga, Chihuahua, Mexico to Miguel and Alicia Venzor. He was the ninth of eleven children and raised on the family ranch in Mexico where he also completed the fourth grade at Agustin Melgar in Mexico. Rafa worked at El Chorriadero, a small mine in Mexico prior to moving to the United States where he spent his days working in construction and ranching. Raf always loved the ranching way of life and spent every chance he could doing that. He lived in many places including Florida from 1978 until 1979, he moved to Texas in 1979 where he met Chayo and they lived there together until 1985. Rafa and Chayo then lived in Colorado from 1985 until finally moving to Nevada, where he would stay …

David Ellwood Dunham

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Ellwood Dunham on July 16, 2023, at his home in Winnemucca, Nevada. He was born on July 20, 1947, to Wyona Easter Dunham and Robert Ellwood Dunham. He graduated in 1965 from Indio High School, Indio, CA. In 1970, he received a Bachelor of Arts in French; minor in German at Cal State University, Northridge, CA and he went for one year of graduate study at the University of Aix-Marseilles, Aix-en-Provence, France. David served in the U.S. Air Force as an Administrative Specialist; French and Chinese Interpreter from 1970 to 1974 during the Vietnam War. In 1971, he graduated from Defense Language Institute as interpreter in Mandarin Chinese, Monterey, CA. In 1972, he completed an Administrative Assistant course for the United States Air Force. In 1977, he graduated with honors from the Executive Secretarial program, at Coleman College. …

Carol Ann Shank (Nieblas)

On July 5th we lost a great lady, Carol Ann Shank (Nieblas). She was born in Santa Ana, California on July 7th, 1947 to Robert J. Nieblas and Joyce Mary (Walker) Nieblas. She grew up in Santa Ana and graduated from Santa Ana High School. She started taking classes and working at Santa Ana College. Later on, she worked for Chapman College as an administrative secretary. She met the love of her life in 1971 and was married to John W. Shank in 1973. John and Carol worked at various jobs in Santa Ana, California. In 1978 the Shanks moved to Reno, Nevada. Carol worked as an administrative secretary to several entities in Reno, Nevada. In 1980 the Shanks moved to Fernley, Nevada. Carol worked at the Truck Inn as a secretary. In 1984 Carol gave birth to her daughter Ann-Marie. It was a great moment in their lives. In …

Sandra Harshbarger

Sandra Harshbarger, of Winnemucca, NV passed away July 17, 2023, with family members at her side. Sandy was born in Laconia, New Hampshire on September 2, 1938, and moved west when she was just a child. She was raised in Reno and attended Reno High School. It was in Reno where she met her husband, Don Harshbarger and got married in May of 1956. In the 60s they moved to Burns Lake, British Columbia and bought a hunting and fishing resort which they loved doing but eventually moved back to Reno which had always been home. In the mid-70s they decided to come to Winnemucca where she was employed with Humboldt County School District as the payroll/budget clerk. While employed there they bought Motor Cargo Trucking and she eventually retired to help full time with the business. Her door was always open to her grandkids and great-grandkids and their many …
