Lander JV basketball go 1-1 this weekend

On Friday and Saturday, Jan. 5 and 6, the Battle Mountain Longhorns JV boys and girls teams traveled to play against the West Wendover Wolverines and White Pine Bobcats in two league games. The JV boys defeated the Bobcats while the JV girls outlasted the Wolverines.

Longhorn wrestlers bring home medals

After spending some time getting healthy, the Longhorn wrestling team resumed their season with a two-day trip to Idaho. 

Lady Longhorns defeat West Wendover

This past weekend the Battle Mountain High School girls varsity Longhorns traveled to West Wendover and White Pine for two conference games. The lady Longhorns blew out the Wolverines before falling to defending state champions White Pine the following evening.

Longhorn varsity boys blowout Bobcats, extend winning streak to 13 games

On Saturday, Jan. 6, the Battle Mountain High School (BMHS) Longhorns traveled to Ely to face the White Pine High School (WPHS) Bobcats in a Northern 2A conference game. The Longhorns handily defeated the Bobcats by a final score of 65-42.

Boys Varsity extends win streak

The Battle Mountain Longhorns defeated the West Wendover High School (WWHS) Wolverines on the road in a Northern 2A league match, extending their winning streak to 12 games. They remain the top seed in the league.

Longhorns face challenging stretch ahead

The Battle Mountain High School basketball team faces a difficult stretch of their season, with only two home games during the month of January. The Longhorns are looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak but will face determined teams.

Lady Longhorns hold off Vandals 39-36

The Battle Mountain High School girls basketball team closed out the calendar year with a 39-36 win at Eureka on Tuesday, Dec. 19. The Lady Longhorns led from the first quarter on in the low-scoring game against the Eastern 1A school.

Battle Mountain boys sink Eureka

The Battle Mountain High School boys basketball team traveled to Eureka County High School on Tuesday, Dec. 19, to compete against the Eureka Vandals. The non-league game showcased some skilled shooting by both sides before the Longhorns pulled out the win.

Small realignment changes coming for 2A in fall of 2018

The new realignment in high schools sports for the 2018-19 school year was adopted by the NIAA Realignment Committee and will have its final vote at the NIAA Board meeting in January in Reno.

Longhorn boys roll past Leopards

On Tuesday, Dec. 12, the Battle Mountain High School boys basketball teams played a non-league game against the Wells Leopards. The high-powered Longhorn offense helped establish an early lead against the Leopards and went on to win 71-35.

Battle Mountain wrestlers compete in Reno, Lovelock

Wrestlers from all over the United States met up in Reno last weekend for the Reno Tournament of Champions. 

Lady Longhorns knock off Incline in OT

The Battle Mountain High School girls basketball team handily defeated the North Tahoe Lakers this past Friday. On Saturday, the contest against Incline required overtime to decide the winner.

Longhorns defeat talented Incline team

This past weekend, the Battle Mountain High School boys basketball team played its first two league games of the year against North Tahoe Lakers and Incline. The Longhorns won both games to propel them into a strong position early in the season.

BMHS hosts fall sports awards

Battle Mountain High School (BMHS) held their Fall Sports Awards in November after the Longhorns football team competed in the 2A state championship game.

Battle Mountain junior varsity girls win Longhorn Invitational

Battle Mountain High School and Eleanor Lemaire Junior High played host to the 2017 Longhorn Invitational tournaments this past weekend.  The Longhorn junior varsity boys and girls teams displayed quality basketball through the weekend.
