BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain High School boys soccer team was on the road for two Ruby Mountain League matches this past week in Spring Creek and Winnemucca, losing both.
The Battle Mountain High School girls soccer team dropped a pair of Ruby Mountain League matches this past week on the road. The Lady Longhorns traveled to Spring Creek on Tuesday, Oct. 4, and lost 12-0. They were in Winnemucca Saturday, where they lost 4-0 to Lowry. BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain High School junior varsity volleyball team played some of its best volleyball of the year last week, but had just one win to show for the effort.
BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain High School varsity volleyball team had three matches last week against the Elko Indians, Lowry Buckaroos and Silver Stage Nighthawks. The Lady Longhorns were only able to pull out one victory in the three.
BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain High School boys soccer team ended a five-match losing streak in a big way with a 6-0 win over White Pine Saturday in Battle Mountain to close out homecoming week.
The Battle Mountain High School junior varsity football team suffered a heartbreaking 7-0 loss to Yerington in its final home game of the season on Friday night. With a under a minute to play the Longhorns had a drive going for the winning score but had a pass intercepted in the final seconds and Yerington ran the interception back for a touchdown. Battle Mountain closes out its season Thursday against the Spring Creek freshmen at 4:30 p.m.
BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Trilogies are usually saved for the movies but it may be coming to a football field near you in northern Nevada.
BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain High School girls golf team finished up its season with a second-place finish at the NIAA 2A Nevada State High School Girls Golf Championship presented by the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Farmers Insurance. The tournament was held Monday, Oct. 10, and Tuesday, Oct. 11, in Elko at the Ruby View Golf Course.Round Mountain won the championship with a two-day total of 955, to claim its first-ever state title in the sport. Battle Mountain was second at 1,014 and Wells third with a 1,029, followed by Yerington (1,100), North Tahoe (1,127), North Tahoe (1,138) and West Wendover (1,264). Incline and Mountain View did not record team scores.
BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain High School junior varsity volleyball closed out its homecoming week with a 25-13 and 25-9 loss to Spring Creek Saturday in Battle Mountain.With the loss the Lady Longhorns dropped to 0-5 in the Ruby Mountain League and 10-10 overall. Caitlyn Warwood and Kaleah Torgerson had four digs and four assists, respectively, and Gabby Penola finished with two kills.
BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain High School varsity volleyball was victorious in its 2011 homecoming match with the 3A Spring Creek Spartans this past Saturday. The Lady Longhorns were able to beat the Spartans in three games, 25-20, 25-18, and 25-17, which was the first victory in the Ruby Mountain League. Battle Mountain is no 1-4 in league play and 14-14 overall.
