The 2014 Lowry High School winter sports night for athletes and parents will be held next Wednesday, at 6 p.m. in the Lowry auditorium.Winter coaches and staff will be available to the athletes and parents. Practice times, team rules and regulations will be addressed by the individual staffs. The winter sports at Lowry include varsity, junior varsity and freshmen boys and girls basketball and varsity and junior varsity wrestling.

The Lowry High School student section was in full force on Saturday afternoon to cheer on the Lowry volleyball team in the semifinals of the Division I-A North Regional Championships in Winnemucca. The Lady Bucks came short in their quest for a trip to the state tournament as Truckee won 20-25, 25-22, 25-20 and 25-19. Elko defeated Truckee in five sets in the championship and both teams advanced to the state championships this weekend at Galena High School in Reno.TONY ERQUIAGA • The Humboldt Sun
