WINNEMUCCA - The 2013 Lowry High School winter sports night for athletes and parents will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Lowry auditorium.

WINNEMUCCA - The Lowry High School junior varsity girls soccer team wrapped up its season on Friday, Nov. 1, with a 1-1 tie against Elko.

TONY ERQUIAGA • The Humboldt SunThe Lowry High School volleyball team presented Ashley Treat with a check for $772.96 on Wednesday night inn the Lowry gym. Joe and Grace Dennison provided $150 of that donation. The Lady Bucks donned pink jerseys last month as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The money will go to pay for Treat's medical expenses in her battle against Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. She is a single mom with two kids. The Lowry volleyball team would like to thank everyone who supported them in their fundraising efforts and Treat during her time of need. WINNEMUCCA - After breezing through its first five games of the year, the Lowry High School football team got its wake-up call on Oct. 4, in Elko as the Indians humbled the Buckaroos 26-6.

MICHAEL MICHAELSEN • Special to the SunThe Special Olympic bowling team of Winnemucca took time to show off the new shirts the group received with a photo at Spare Time Bowl on Thursday, Oct. 31. The group received a number of donations, including a large one from the Knights of Columbus in helping purchase the shirts. The athletes wore the shirts at their state competition in Reno this past Saturday. Also pictured in the group are volunteers, teachers and coaches. The group bowls throughout the fall and competes in track in the spring and summer.

WINNEMUCCA - Rack Pack maintained the top spot in the Winnemucca Pool League standings with a 13-4 win over Outlaws in week five action. Rack Pack has a 4-1 record and 58 out of a possible 85 points.
