MCDERMITT - When the calendar starts turning its pages to the fall months, one of the more popular sports to play or follow is football.Last year, there was a void left at McDermitt High School, when there were not enough players to field a football team, cancelling the season. After a year's absence, the Bulldogs can enjoy playing football on Friday and Saturday afternoons, as the program is back with 13 players.

WINNEMUCCA - After opening the season with a tough loss to Truckee, it did not take the Lowry High School freshmen team to get into the win column.The Buckaroos traveled to Reno this past Thursday to face Wooster and beat the Colts 30-6. Lowry, who turned the ball over five times against Truckee, did not have one turnover against Wooster.

The Lowry High School varsity volleyball team split its opening Division I-A North matches this past weekend. The Lady Bucks lost to Dayton at home on Friday in three sets and went on the road on Saturday and defeated Fernley in five sets.

MCDERMITT - If you take away the first two points of Saturday's match against Austin, it was quite a successful home debut for the McDermitt High School volleyball team.The Fillies scored the first two points of the match on aces, but it was all Lady Bulldogs from there, as they won 25-6, 25-16 and 25-21 to improve to 1-1 on the season. The matchup was a non-league contest, since the Fillies are playing as an independent.
