WINNEMUCCA - The Silver State International Rodeo is back at the Winnemucca Events Complex for a second straight year, with the field in each event being expanded by five competitors.
Winnemucca 9- and-10-year-old all stars win opener in tourneyThe Winnemucca 9- and 10-year-old all stars scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning to beat High Desert (Fernley) 18-17 on Wednesday morning in its opening game of the District III Tournament being held in Winnemucca. WINNEMUCCA - The Silver State International Rodeo began its week with the queen contest horsemanship on Monday in the large arena at the Winnemucca Events Complex.
The Winnemucca 9- and 10-year-old all stars finished third in the District III Tournament that was held in Winnemucca over the past week. Winnemucca lost a pair of heartbreaking one-run games to Ruby Mountain 11-10 on Thursday and Silverada 6-5 on Saturday morning to be eliminated from the tournament. High school cowboys and cowgirls from around the west and Canada have converged on Winnemucca this week for the 27th annual Silver State International rodeo at the Winnemucca Events Complex. The rodeo is for contestants that finished fifth through 15th in the final standings of their state or province championships. Close to 500 athletes are competing in the six-day event. WINNEMUCCA - In its second to last tournament of the summer season, the Greater Nevada Badgers A squad turned in its best result of the year with a runner-up finish at the Firecracker Invitational played in Boise, Idaho, June 28 - July 1.
MERIDIAN, Idaho - As you well know, I love spring bear hunting. My bear spot finally thawed out so I thought that I'd go throw out my bait and then turkey hunt for a couple of days. I got up there Monday a little after lunch and threw out my bait right fast. Then I met up with my buddy Roger Ross and off we went. We hit quite a few spots but only saw one bird.
WINNEMUCCA - The long high school rodeo season comes to an end in the next week, with the 64th annual National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyo.
