The Lowry High School cross country team made its way to Truckee this past Saturday for an early-morning start at Ponderosa Golf Course for the Truckee Invitational.
For the past decade, it has been tough for McDermitt High School to put a football team on the field in the small town and reservation on the Nevada and Oregon border.
The Lowry High School girls golf team was back on the course last week, including hosting the Northern 3A at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course on Monday, Sept. 25.
The Lowry High School football team began its toughest part of the schedule to close out the regular season, with a road trip to Elko on Friday night. The Indians, celebrating their homecoming, came away with a 42-0 win, as the Buckaroos dropped to 1-2 in league play and 2-3 overall.
The Lowry High School boys soccer team jumped out to a 1-0 lead at halftime at Fallon on Saturday, but Churchill County rallied for a pair of goals in the final 40 minutes to grab a 2-1 victory.
The Lowry High School cross country team traveled to Sparks last Friday for the Reed Invitational. The three Lowry girls that ran, took part in the 5,000-meter junior varsity race and junior Brooklyn Swensen placed 25th with a time of 26 minutes, 34 seconds.
A week after dropping a 1-0 contest to Fernley on the road, the Lowry High School girls soccer team got off to another slow start against Churchill County this past Saturday in Winnemucca to close out the first half of the Northern 3A East conference. The Greenwave scored a pair of first-half goals and held on for a 4-2 win. The first goal came in the seventh minute and the second came with five minutes left in the first half.

The Lowry High School girls golf team remained in the hunt for a berth in the state tournament in October, with a tie for fifth place in Falllon on Tuesday, Sept. 19. South Tahoe won the tournament with a score of 410, followed by Wooster (413) and Elko (414) were second and third, respectively.
Playing in front of its home crowd for the only time in September, the Lowry High School volleyball team got back on the winning track with a 25-17, 25-7, 25-12 victory over Wooster on Thursday night.
The Lowry High School cross country was back in Fernley for the second time this season, this past Thursday for the Fernley Roadhill Invitational.
With the new football realignment in the Northern 3A, it figured to be a crazy season with the top teams in the league. This past Friday in Winnemucca was no different, as Lowry High School and Spring Creek put on an offensive display for the fans.

The McDermitt High School volleyball team collected two more wins in the 1A East this past weekend against Jackpot and Wells.
The Lowry High School volleyball team was back on the road for a trip to Truckee, Calif., this past Friday to take on perennial 3A power Truckee in a non-conference match.
